Burdette with 7, Scaife with 7, Layfield with 5.
Fordham's Cavanaugh with 13!

Women are doing better than the men at this point. Wish they would not schedule games at same times. I want to give full attention to both!

Dayton trailing 49-44 after three quarters.
Scaife with 13, Layfield with 13, Burdette with 11
Fordham's Cavanaugh with 23.
Fordham continues to play way more aggressive than the Flyers.

Cannatelli is 0-4 and 2 free throws, and that is the game right now. She struggle with tight defense on her.

We're they actually going to count that last shot? I feel like they only waived it off after it rolled out.

It seemed like they were
Thought the A10 video guys were right -- the Fordham player "possessed" the ball and didn't "deflect" it.
Looked closer on slow motion replay, though.
Fordham's twitter called it a "tap in" from the free throw line....

Impressions
This team can win the A-10 tournament and go to the NCAA tournament if the core 7 are healthy for the A-10 tournament.
Very impressive win on Fordham's floor (did not look like many fans - weather?)

Would love to get Ward playing and Wilmoth contributing for the rematch at UD Arena.
Box score shows 874 which is a couple hundred less than their season average (~1160). Didn't look like that many on the A10 video but not too many shots of that side of the gym.

Kinda lost in the excitement of the ending is that Layfield's 26 points is a career high.

Did not think we played all that great. There was a long stretch where we were down 40-39, had several chances, but could not put points up on the board. Cannatelli never got untracked (0-5). 12 turnovers is not terrible but Scaife had 4 of them. We had zero bench points. Wilmoth only played 8 minutes and Phillips 7. Pretty much an iron 5 tonight. Of course, some of that ugliness can be credited to the Fordham defense. They are well coached. Missed 3 freebies late that could have put it away. If that last 3 by Cavanaugh had gone in we would be singing a different tune. Take the "W" and head for home.

From the official NCAA women's rule book -
Art. 19. In any period, when the game clock displays tenths of seconds and play is to be resumed by a throw-in or a free throw when 3/10ths (.3) of a second or less remains on the game clock, a player may not gain control of the ball and attempt a try for a field goal. Such player can only score a field goal by means of a tap of a pass or of a missed free throw.
The Fordham player obviously gained control of the ball - to the extent she was able to catch and shoot while airborne. It would seem the rule would disallow the bucket if it had gone in.

Fordham controlled the tempo and we can't allow that, if we can play our up tempo style, I really believe we can beat them easily. Just got to keep pushing it our style against everyone and it will be hard to beat this team.
Great team win and incredible job by Layfield again. I hope pro scouts are looking at her energy and her ability to rebound and play defense.
