Neo: Thanks for getting this rolling. It's a little harder finding offers in Illinois, but here are a couple I'm aware of:
Luke Anthony-Wheaton North-6'3"/190#-QB-Drake, Butler
Mark Bach-Barrington-6'1"/250#-C-Drake, Valpo, U. of Minn-Duluth

Reminds me a little of the current Flyer QB. Like him, Luke is a very good hoops player, and he also had offers from both of the PFL's Bulldogs. Since Luke lives in a suburb (Wheaton) that's adjacent to the home base of the current Flyer QB (Glen Ellyn), perhaps they can get together to throw this summer.
Congrats and welcome to the Flyer Family.

It appears that much of Kevin's senior year was cut short by injury. Based on the limited hudl video, however, he looks like another Wes Welker-type. Congrats and welcome to the Flyer family.

Great job finding those commitments FI. I am being little or no help.
I did find that one of our offers (Alex Beck - Hudson OH) took a walk-on offer from Ohio State. We wish him luck.

I was also hoping that we had a lot or recruits on campus this past weekend. The beautiful weather should have been great for selling Dayton. The level of activity around campus must have been vibrant. My son hosted a recruit and he said it went very well.

Neo: Thanks for weighing in...I was starting to feel alone in the UDPride wilderness. It's been a little tough finding these guys, but I think more will be showing up in the next 2 weeks. One place I've started to look is on the twitter accounts of the assistant coaches (Fox and Overman, in particular). Sometimes, they'll tweet about a commitment, and then immediately re-tweet the player's tweet saying he committed.
To the extent that other "lurkers" want us to continue looking for these commitments, feel free to say "thanks" from time to time. I'm not looking for gratitude, I just want to be sure at least a few Flyer fans are paying attention.

Coach Overman tweeted about getting "a big WR from the steel city," and I'm fairly certain Evan is that guy. If so, it's a very nice pickup. Tall, athletic receivers are hard to come by. If I'm right, welcome to the Flyer family.

I FOUND ONE!!
Simon Kroos - Bexley HS (Columbus OH) 6'2"/171# - CB/QB

Seems to have some good speed. At 170# would definitely have to put on some weight. My projection is he'd be a candidate for a safety position

Possibly the next Ryan Skibinski? It appears his season was cut short due to injury, but looks quick and fast. For those wondering, based on his Hudl picture, he looks just as Irish as his name (and HS) would suggest. Welcome to the Flyer family.

With "signing day" only about a week away, the commitments are starting to roll in. Here's a summary of the 16 commits thus far:
DE-3 (Gannon, Alber, Obringer)
DT-1 (Getz)
LB-1 (Unknown, but Coach Overman tweeted about a "head-cracking" LB from Pittsburgh)
DB-3 (Deen, Kroos, Watson)
OL-2 (Schell, Bart)
WR-3 (Bickett, Frazier, Byrne)
TE-1 (Hegeweld)
RB-1 (Warfield)
QB-1 (Anthony)
Not surprisingly, the focus seems to be on the defensive side of the ball. Great to have a number of commitments at CB. Need to keep working on DT. Probably another 10 or so to go.

Appears that he's being recruited as a DB (possibly safety), but he did a little of everything for his HS, including long-snapping. In fact, he may have had the most productive single game of any Flyer recruit this past fall. In a single game, he had 15 receptions for 181 yds and 2 TDs; 1 rush of 34 yds. for another TD; and 22 tackles, including a forced fumble. That would be a solid month for most HS players. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Another "steel city" kid. He also played QB, but I suspect he's being recruited as a DB. In addition to playing both ways, he also blocked at least 2 punts on special teams. Wherever he ends up, he seems like a young man who just wants to help his team win. He's come to the right place. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Dad is about as good a defensive coach as any high school or small college program will see!!!!! (in my experience not conjecture)

Showme: Of course, would always love to have a couple more OL. Having said that, they will have 11 on their roster for next year, with 2 more in the incoming class. Of the 11 currently on the roster, only 1 (Hammontree) will use up his eligibility in 2017. So, there is the potential of having 4 of 5 starters back for 2018.
For my money, the position that needs added depth is DT. The two recruits above both look great, but almost certainly will RS. I wouldn't be surprised if they move one or more of the FR O-lineman to the other side of the ball.
Hopefully, there is at least one more OL and DT recruit still out there ready to commit.

There is he is...the other DT I was looking for. This looks like a great pickup as well. All-State in GA. Great pad level and motor. Welcome to the Flyer family.

He looked very good on both sides of the ball, but I'm guessing he's a future safety. Whichever side he ends up on, he definitely looks like a FB player. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Showme: Here's another O-line guy for you, and this one has a whole lot of "nasty" in him. He definitely takes "block until the whistle" to heart. Also the first Florida recruit in awhile. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Love this kid's Hudl highlights. Great coverage skills and closing speed. Also, doesn't seem to have a problem holding the edge on run plays. Has the potential to see time as a true freshman. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Another great looking DT for the Flyers. A run-stuffer that can also get after the QB. Had one play where he chased down a RB 30 yards past the line of scrimmage. Welcome to the Flyer family.

As in past years, 1-2 commits may role in after tomorrow. Even if not, this looks like a great class. Coaches seem to have prioritized speed. The class also addresses the depth
issues at DT and CB. The only (mild) surprises are that the class at this point only includes one LB and one QB.

First, I want to thank Flyer Illini for all the updates on the recruits.
Secondly, being signing day it seems awfully quite on the recruit front for Dayton. I also came across a second player that was offered by Dayton who accepted a walk-on offer at Ohio State. It will definitely a tough road for those two players. We wish them well.
Lastly, it seems that this group of recruits seems to be solid group and well rounded. It will be interesting to watch them the next few years
GO FLYERS!!!

Neo: Thanks, happy to do it. As for your comment on it being quiet, I agree. Here's what was tweeted on the Dayton FB twitter account early this morning:
Make sure you visit @DaytonFootball for retweets and other information on Signing Day '17! #GoFlyers
It's now early afternoon in Dayton...and not a single tweet. Meanwhile, Drake and other PFL programs are tweeting their "signings" with cool videos of the recruits. The Flyers need to step-up their game on social media.

Here is Chambo's update on the recruiting class. Thirty-three recruits. We have to look for more kids from Ohio.
http://daytonflyers.com/news/2017/2/...ay-update.aspx
FI -- Chambo notes 12 Ohio recruits. Add five to the Ohio total and that's a total of 34 recruits??

Neo: Not sure what happened, but one of the CB recruits I listed above (Cameron Deen) apparently committed to Georgetown. So, that makes 28 that we've identified. If the Chambo video is accurate about 12 recruits from Ohio, that would bring the total to 33.
I do note that the article that accompanies the Chambo video says that there are 8 recruits from Ohio. Of course, the first sentence of the article says that the Flyers have "27 wins in the last two seasons," so there appears to be a proof-reading issue. I'll keep looking for additional Ohio recruits.

Here is some info and a quote from Justin after he signed. You made a good choice Justin
Herold was also looking at the University of Ashland and Findlay.
“It really took me a long time to come to the decision,” Herold said. “I literally only decided yesterday about 12 o’clock. The big thing with me was that I wanted to go to this place where I could have an ah-hah moment. I wanted things to be just right both academically and athletically.”
The Flyers were 9-2 last year and generally are near the top of their conference. In recent years, several football Eagles have migrated to Dayton.
“One of those guys has been Ben Gauthier,” Herold said. “He talked to me about it. He told me he loved it so much. He was a big help to me in deciding.”
This year Herold recorded 75 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, six and a half sacks, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.

Can't believe I didn't find this one sooner. I'm assuming he's related to current Flyer Adam Trautman (brother? cousin?). Looks like a very good athlete and I suspect he was recruited as a LBer. Can't have too many versatile athletes. Welcome to the Flyer family.
Edit: Alec is the brother of current Flyer TE, Adam. I also understand that he's being recruited as an H-back (see, Alex Kenner).

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, he committed to Dayton
Clayton Langdon - Revere HS, Richfield OH - 6'0"/186# - RB/SS

Looks to project as a safety. Looks like an effort type kid.

Absolutely love this kid's highlights. Was on a state championship team and made a couple of big hits to help win the game, including a hit that forced a fumble and TD. He's a hard-hitting safety, but may bulk up a little and end up at the Flyer position. Another great pickup from a program that's been very good to the Flyers. Welcome to the Flyer family.

Jake Brunson/Pope HS (GA)/OT-DT/6'3"-275#
Hudl: http://www.hudl.com/profile/3922070/jacob-brunson
Another big body added to the mix. Although he looked like a road-grader at OT, I suspect he was recruited as a DT. That's an area of need, so he'll have alot of opportunity. Welcome to the Flyer family.
