Conference Wide Open
With the injuries and OCC losses the Conference is wide open. Despite all our changes lets finish Top Four and Win the ATEN Tourney for first time in 15 years. DD and Josh playing at a high level. I was in Charleston we are going to have to work on the 1-3-1 match up zone to be effective. The boys are just too young to play man to man for long periods. We all knew that Pt guard would be a problem and it is on both sides of the ball. Jalen has a chance to be a good player and will get better with the time he is getting. The team is tentative at this point and will have to develop a toughness. That being said they are scrappy and had runs that would get them back into games, just not making the right decisions on shot selection. Again back to the Pt guard. Kostas lost the summer and that really hurts he makes an impact in that 1-3-1 and its gets us in transition on offense where we are most effective. Can it be done without a quality point guard, really tough , the road will be very difficult but the Conference is not that strong!!

Hopefully the team will look a little different (and more seasoned) come January/February/March. The A10 is an absolute tire fire this year. SLU got a decent win over Va Tech but besides that there is just nothing there besides terrible losses. I don't think you will see the separation at the top like we did with UD/VCU/ Rhody last year. Due to that, I wouldn't be surprised if 10-8 or so gets you into the top 3. I think the A10 is staring down the barrel of a 1 bid league and that bid will be a 11/12/13 seed. But hey...hopefully it is us!

Juan Bid is knocking on the A10's door.
The Missouri Valley (without Wichita St) has passed the A10 on KenPom.

Basically everything is bad and the conference tournament may be the only thing that matters.

Lost four of four today and trail in a fifth( SLU should come back and beat Detroit) given the A-10's rather poor performance in the OOC, probability of being a one bid conference grows by the day. And our chances of being that one bid are slim, but could improve.

The master plan is working perfectly, we’ll grow as a unit and peak entering the A10T and grab that tourney invite. The streak lives on.. and maybe we even steal a 1st round game.

In the last ranking the only team mentioned was Rhode Island and that is with 2 or 3 votes. Let's be kind and say that it is extremely competitive league this year. Kinda looks now like conference champion and A-10 tournament winner may be only NCAA tournament invitees. And if conference champion gets knocked out early in A-10 tournament, maybe only one entrant.
That's too far ahead. Right now AG is playing many players, in and out, and finding the best combinations and spots for individuals and team to excel.
How is that for optimism !!!

Still early. Too much pessimism IMO. Still a lot of OOC games left. There are some good coaches in the A10.

That was the best A10 showing today. Terell had 32 to lead the Rams in an upset over no. 20 Seton Hall.
St Joe’s gave up a 20 point lead to Washington State. WSU scored the winning basket in the final 5 seconds.
GW lost by 19 in the Vegas Invitational. They were in it for a while but hit a scoring drought and were out of it.
