Going to be interesting to see who coaches the team this year.
One assistant has already be outed by the FBI, so he won't be the coach. But I would imagine L'ville is going to be hesitant to name anyone connected with the program even an interim coach in case more comes down from the FBI. And who from the outside would take a job with that much uncertainty around the future of the program?

In the interim I hope they reach out to Kenny Payne or Everick Sullivan to settle the waters for this season.

Oliver Purnell is available and I'm only half joking.
UL has to fire everyone in the program and get an interim for this year. Has to be somebody who doesn't have a job right now.
Guys like Purnell who are essentially retired and would take an interim job for a year would be ideal.
Tom Crean, JT3, and Matta have been mentioned too, but I think all three want to get another permanent job which might prevent them from taking it.

That is because of the way their contracts are written. UL has to give Pitino 10 days notice or they owe him something like 30 or 40 million on the spot. Jurich gets like 30 days and I think the board of trustees has to vote to fire him. So basically UL is just following legal procedures to save as much money as they can. But in the end they're both getting fired even though it's not technically being called that now.

For Pitino, the administrative leave is because his contract calls for 10 days notice before terminating. The UL Board of Regents meets mid Oct to vote on it. He's as good as gone.

Yes, but how many coaches have we said that about in the past, only to be resurrected at a another D1 program that was on the rocks? AD's are as greedy as anyone in some cases.

So flipping channels for a few, end up on ESPN. Some clown, er I mean expert, is predicting Chris Mack will be named interim coach at Louisville. After I stopped laughing, I turned this **** off and flipped on some head banging 80's rock. Another good reminder of why I am about to ditch cable and maybe all TV, the dude just wanted to hear his voice for a few.

According to the MM message board, Mack is interviewing for the Louisville job right now. Source cited is @RealClayDade.

Also of note from this dude's Twitter is this:
Per my source too, three black SUVs rolled up to Allen Fieldhouse today on Kansas campus.

Small time coach looking for his chance. Pat Forde just suggested possibly the coach from Bellarmine which is in Louisville. Coach won a D2 national championship there and this could be his way to transition to the D1 game in a big way.

CM wife is from Louisville- i say he is leaving X soon. Too many ties to this region. Proven coach. Ethical from what I've seen (except the Troy McKracken incident). UofL is going to get hammered but I don't think the death sentence.

Okay it is pretty much confirmed that Coach-2 in the investigation is Pitino meaning he had direct involvement with the funneling of money to his recruits. So whoever takes that gig better have language in their contract the if basketball gets the death penalty they get a substantial buyout.

Rumor is it will be current assistant, Dave Padgett, who played there about 10 years ago. Interesting because you would think he would have known what was going down.

When Padgett played his agent was Andy Miller, who is at the center of this whole thing. Firing Pitino to hire a current assistant who is so obviously tied to Miller is an absolute joke - it's complete and utter refusal to clean things up. I mean you'd think they would at least want to make it APPEAR they were addressing things. Hiring Padgett is insanity. It's a cry for help really.

Lots of past stuff vacated from 2010-2015, but are they losing any scholarships, NCAA tourney eligiblity or TV exposure? If not, this is a slap on the wrist.

This relates only to the escort scandal investigation — also hanging over their head is the continuing FBI investigation into recruiting. That may well bring other sanctions.
