Red and Blue Leftovers

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Some leftovers from the Red and Blue game, plus the usual assortment of odds and ends:

-- When I chatted with Roosevelt Chapman after the scrimmage, I alluded to the fact that there is some great footage of him during the Elite Eight run in 1984 vs. Oklahoma on YouTube. I told Velvet that what struck me was that his face never changed expression until late in the game, when he allowed himself a brief smile after a made basket. “I had a lot of and-ones when I played” said Rosey, stating the obvious. “Players now want to celebrate when they make a basket.” He said that’s what he tells kids now: when they score and get fouled “the play is not over…you still have to make the foul shot!” Take it from a man who knows, kids.

-- I posted this on the MB but it bears repeating here. For those of you who are out-of-towners and rely on video streaming to see many of the Flyers games, here’s the deal according to UD SID Doug Hauschild:

--if it's a WHIO game, either they or UD will probably stream it (for free)
--if it's a CBS-CS national game there will be a charge to watch
--if it's a CBS-CS regional game, UD will probably stream, no charge
--not sure what happens if it's a Fox Sports Ohio game
--if it’s an ESPN game and you don’t have a TV or don’t get ESPN-U, then you’ll have to resort to Justin.tv or ATDHE.net or one of the other webstreaming sites.

Doug said that when CBS College Sports first got the A-10 rights they wanted all of the schools to charge their fans to watch the stream. UD pushed back and said how about we pay you a flat fee and we provide the stream for free to our fans. Most of the other A-10 schools went the pay model, CBS-CS realized after the fact that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to allow UD to go the free route.

I spoke for all out-of-town UD fans when I thanked Doug for thinking of us instead of trying to make a buck.

-- In Dave Telep’s initial effort for his new home at ESPN.com, he gives a “Muggsy Bogues Alert” shout-out to Juwan Staten:

-- Class of 2012 Chicago St. Rita forward A.J. Avery has an offer from UD among others:

-- OHSH.com says that UD is showing interest in this kid, Malik London of Chillicothe (OH) HS:

-- Rivals.com with a freebie summary of the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp. You can read the whole thing like I did, or cut to the chase and click on Vitto Brown from Findlay, as he is the only guy who lists Dayton. That’s okay, because most of these kids are so young they don’t even have a list yet:

-- John Stovall of ESPN.com with a summary of the same event with profiles of Vitto Brown and another kid I would love for BG to land, Byron Ziegler (Trey Ziegler of CMU’s cousin):

-- Jalen Robinson from Columbus Brookhaven HS backed off of his commitment to Huggy Bear U the other day:

-- Would UD even want to talk to former Wake Forest player Tony Woods after a misdemeanor assault on his girlfriend? Xavier sure did:

WOTS is that Woods is going to play for Slick Rick at UL.

-- How to fix Midnight Madness, according to Rushthe Court.com:

-- How bad do the New York Knicks suck? They fired the best basketball announcer in the business, Gus Johnson:

Like the article says, the Knicks’ loss is college basketball’s gain!

I knew it was one of those powerhouse Cols schools. Duly noted and edited.
