Hard to argue with most of those selections.

In Green's case the W/L record only tells half the story. It's too bad that some only read that half of the story. On the other hand, I think Green would be the first to say it was the players not the coach who got the team where it is today.

Hard to believe there are four players better than Austria. Her combination of offense and defense is the best in the A10. An injustice.

If she wouldn't have missed those five games I think Jenna would've had a good shot at first team. No doubt she'll be first team preseason next year. If UD would've beaten La Salle in December maybe it would've been enough for Shauna to be COY.

How can Lasalle's coach be coach of the year???

In non conference they largely played tomato cans and went 8-5, beating no one of consequence. Their strength of schedule is 206- TWO OH SIX for Christmas sake! Not even in the top half . Dayton is 65.

With a power ranking of 151? Dayton is 53!


With an RPI of 166? Dayton is 45!

They were 9-7 in conference. Dayton was 13-3.!!!! 13& THREE!!!

How can this be?? This isn't about improvements or overcoming anything, or any "everyone gets a trophy" nonsense. They are your players, you recruited them. So it's not that you did more with less- it's about results. Sure they were horrible last year- so what!

They finished, are you sitting down?? Sixth! 6th. Yikes! A good case can be made that Williams is therefore the sixth best coach in the league- not THE BEST.

This is a travesty. No way would this happen in men's basketball. Are women held to a different standard??? Is it because they were picked 12th and finished 6th?? What does that have to do with anything- they didn't suck as much as they were supposed to !!!Wow!!

There should be an investigation. This retards development of the league and the sport.

Well, they did beat Dayton (that loss still hurts).

Thought COY would have gone to either Shauna or GW's coach, both first year coaches tied for the league.

Still expect Kelley to get a sniff in the WNBA. Mystics coach seemed to have Kelley's profile pretty well memorized. Not a draft pick but an invite to camp.

SGA and Andi could land in the Euro league where defense isn't a top priority, and fits their style more than D1.

Andi couldn't play in the CYO league. She's averaging 1.9 points per game as a bench warmer for a mediocre college team!!! I'm not clear as to what "style" she has that would cause anyone to pay her to play basketball. Hopefully she has a degree and other skills.

It's called jealousy. I think the ladies are a bit more spiteful. Between volleyball and basketball the A10 coaches are getting a steady dose of humility from UD women's sports.

Excuse me but I will take Andrea Hoovers evaluation of Andi any day over your constantly negative remarks regarding many of the womens athletes.

As an announcer for the SLU game Andrea Hoover said that Andi has great upside with many moves for the basket and can hit the parimeter shot as well, and will be a great fit for the Euro league where her style is more suitable. Considering Andrea has spent a few years with her in practice etc she should know who and what an athletes abilities are. Unfortunately that does not always equate to playing in American D1. Same goes for SGA and CS our french tower.

Andi, Maddy etc are performing in practice or they wouldn't even sniff the court in game time. Again Shauna Green knows a thing or two about her players (lot more than you and me) and trust me she wouldn't put them in the game if they didn't have the skills. For the most part Andi usually gets called for an early foul or silly steps when she enters.

So the end result is you are entitle to your untrained opinion whereas Shauna and Andrea know the players a lot better.

Maddy if she don't transfer still has couple years to step up her game on the court. We will see who steps up from the freshmen next year, some are showing promise then there are a few that just haven't shown much yet and don't see the court till mop up time.

Adjusting from HS or AAU is a big adjustment and some just don't quite rise to their potential or expectation during game time.

Shame on you Jack72 for agreeing UD a mediocre college team. Thought you had more savvy than that. For both you and Maddog explain why Shauna brings in Andi before others if she is so poor. Answer is that Shauna sees her upside in practice and probably is just as puzzled as to why she don't play that way in game situations. But that goes for several players, we only see them in a game environment compared to their skill which are shown in practices.

If the ladies win the A-10 they would be NCAA bound again. Mediocre teams don't consistently make the NCAA post season.

The past is irrelevant to our mediocrity. We didn't make the NCAA last year and are a stretch to make it this year at RPI of 65, presently, which is all that is at issue, we are clearly mediocre.

But the real point of discussion was AC and her pro potential. It's zero! Hoover must just be making small talk in her first broadcast or she's an idiot. If Players who average a basket a game for their entire career are going pro, there must be thousands and thousands of jobs available! Pros get more, way, way, way more than 7 minutes a game in their senior season. Can't we at least be logical????

I heard every word Hoover said, and there was not a negative one about any Flyer, so hardly objective. But on Andi, Hoover never said she could play in Europe. Every level a player advances, speed gets more important. Andi, a stud in HS, never could adjust to being a high D1 college player because she is not fast enough running, jumping, shooting or reacting. Play in Europe will be at a faster, higher level. Heck what cost Hoover a pro career? Her size and speed. She was fast at UD, but average at the next level.

Take off your red tinted glasses, and know she plays some now, because she is a senior and we have little else on the bench. Andi barely plays more than Wilmoth and Dennis. All play about 7 minutes per game, which is all they deserve given their offense, defense and rebounding.

Austria and Grant would have a great chance to play in Europe. Wonder if Austria would want to, with all her knee problems. I agree with someone who said she may get a tryout with the WNBA.

Let me weigh in on the future of the seniors. Andi showed potential her freshman year - I remember a double double against Washington St. and thinking WOW she's something. Then the foot injury her sophomore season and she never regained what she had. Can she play overseas somewhere? I don't see why not - it helps she's got a decent outside touch. Maddy, I don't see it, I'll leave it at that. Grant-Allen should get a WNBA tryout and if that doesn't work out she can be quite effective overseas. Kelley, I frankly have my doubts about her in the WNBA - I'd love to be wrong.

Perhaps she can play in the Bangladesh league.

Not everyone has aspersions to play pro in their sport. Take libby Leedom, she qualified for a redshirt due to her injury and would be good enough to play pro soccer, yet she chose to graduate and go to med school where her real interest is. So let's see how things play out.
