Game recap:

SJU has a better record than we do, but I was not all that impressed with them. Yes they dominated us in stats, but SJU is in major rebuilding mode just like we are. We absolutely had to have this victory and managed to get it done. But it wasn't without more indigestion from the mids and forwards doing very little to impact the game either technically or physically. While the Pauley-to-Kellett goal was well executed, that was about it as far as legitimate scoring chances all day. The defense would end up winning this match for us by holding on late and turning SJU scoring chances away.
The mids and forwards have to start controlling the ball and finding feet. Right now they are committing turnovers on every other touch of the ball and our defense cannot continue to take on pressure from that inability to push forward and not be expected to break from time to time. The back line needs desperate help. That's not to say they are perfect -- their D against VCU was awful. But, at some point when they play a ball forward, a teammate needs to either collect it and do something meaningful with it via technical ability, or do something productive with it from an athletic ability standpoint.
