Well his win share is .5 and win share per 48 is .044. Meaning he is about half the league on per 48. He has an a/t of 2.4 which should be pretty decent. However his steals/turnover is about .5. Not sure where that really ransk.

Today is the day that the NBA can start offering 10 day contracts to NBADL prospects. It is likely the Hornets are just taking a look at Sloan who is the 12th best NBADL prospect on The Big Board:
http://www.nba.com/dleague/news/pros...big_board.html
There are a number of higher rated guards, and several higher rated point guards than Sloan (one is the other Chris Wright at #3), however Sloan has had prior experience with the Clippers.
Our Chris Wright is #2 on The Big Board list.
Not necessarily a death sentence for BRob, just that many teams are desperate for help and are looking under every rock.

BRob 1/07
Better than decent stats! Too little time . . .
In 13 minutes, BRob had one 3 pointer, 1 basket, 1 rebound, 1 steal, 2 assists, no turnovers (5 points)
Hope somebody who matters is paying attention . . .

Don't think so, as NOLA is on a win streak and Monty Williams picture is still all over their wesbite. The Hornets play the Celtics tonite. I hope B-Rob scores 50 and NOLA loses by 1.

Gordon is playing a ton but Rivers is only getting walk-on minutes. Time for Brian to step a little harder on Rivers' neck.

Did not want to see this item in the post-game notes from The Boston Globe:
"Hornets guard Brian Roberts left the game in the second quarter with a sprained left ankle suffered when he landed awkwardly after a drive."
That explains why B-Rob only played 4 minutes and change in the first half.

more bad news
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/players...ge/2009747/rss
Roberts leaves with ankle sprain : Hornets guard Brian Roberts left Wednesday's game against the Celtics after spraining his ankle in the first quarter. Roberts sustained the injury on a layup attempt and was unable to shoot his free-throws, which made him ineligible to return. He finished with two points prior to leaving the contest and is being listed as day to day.
(Updated 1/16/13)
apparently he was knocked to the floor pretty hard in the lay-up attempt.
Get Well soon, BRob!

sorry - also this:
http://www.nola.com/hornets/team/135...n-roberts.html
Hornets backup guard Brian Roberts suffered a left ankle (injury) in the second quarter and will not return. He drove the lane but was knocked to the floor. He had to be helped off the floor before being taken to the locker room at the TD Garden.

It was the NBA, he's not a multi-million-dollar player, therefore, it was probably an offensive foul.

Here's some even better news.
I'm going to eat some serious crow over this. With the surprising emergence of Vasquez as a legitimate NBA point guard, and a finally healthy Eric Gordon, the Hornets/Pelicans are on a roll. Only 2 teams in the entire NBA have a better record than New Orlean's 7-3 record in their last 10 games. The fact that they are establishing some legitimacy could do more to head off trades and solidify Roberts spot in the rotation off the bench than anything else I can think of.

Some good and some not-so-good:
Freethrows= If Roberts had enough attempts his % would be tied with Kevin Durant at 91%, good for 2nd in the entire NBA.
3pt shooting: On the other hand, Brian's 3pt shooting has dropped off significantly to 34% and is not in the top 75 in the NBA. Good news last night as he hit 2/2 in a valiant effort by the Pelicans to upset the Spurs in San Antonio.

Interesting that he might get to play against CJ on Friday. If they do both play. It will the first time since November 25, 1989 when Sedric Toney and Jim Paxson played in the same game that two Flyers squared off.

Went to the Hornets v Suns game last night. BRob had an efficient evening going 3/6 shooting with 6 points. They've worked a nice little play in for him that allows him to come off of screens and stop and pop. He actually had a couple more buckets that didn't count because of physical play around the screen. Made one bad decision where he got baited into driving into the trees and got swatted badly. He didn't make the same decision on a similar opportunity a couple of plays later. Overall he's playing with good confidence on offense. Same sweet stroke as always. Defensively he had some issues keeping folks in front of him, but so did Vasquez. He's smaller but not obviously outmatched. The Suns really didn't appear to be interested in creating a mismatch at that position, they were really focused on getting O'Neal mismatches. He's still growing into his role but he looks like he's having a blast.
I wouldn't want to be playing with Eric Gordon, he's an absolute ball stopper. Everybody in the stands groans as soon as it gets passed to him. If he's on it's fine, but when he's off everything shuts down. Vasquez is a good player and seems to 'get it'. Lopez really works hard, can't jump, and is goofy as can be out there but you can't complain about effort. Anderson had a bit of an off night but that guy is deadly accurate. I'd be suprised if a contender doesn't try to pick him up because he's got great size, he works hard, and will cause defenses to have to extend. Very nice player. Aminu hustles as well, he's not very polished but man is he an athlete. Reminds me a lot of our man CW! Anthony Davis did not impress, even though he's a great athlete for his size. He doesn't seem to have much hustle and is certainly not able to overpower people in a half court set.

Rivers is a fantastic athlete, he looks the part, right up until he shoots. I don't know if its in his head at this point but he is having an awful time shooting. Even bunnies are giving him fits right now. They played him with BRob quite a bit last night. The thing that does appear to be changing is that he played pretty unselfishly last night. Not the impression I got watching him in other games. I think his limitations, or lack of confidence right now, are forcing him to find other ways of contributing. He's young.

NBA free throw %
1. Roger Mason NO 30/31 .968
2. Mo Williams UTA 40/43 .930
3. C.J. Miles CLE 49/53 .925
Brian Roberts NO 49/53 .925
I had to take out a couple 1/1's and 8/8's, but for those who have made 30 ft's or more, Brian is tied for 3rd.
Since a 3/4 ft performance on 12/28 he's made 20 straight.

Hornets at Cavs tonight
Just a reminder that the Hornets are playing the Cavs in Cleveland tonight at 8:00 on ESPN.
FSNOhio also lists the game at 9:00, which may be a condensed (or truncated) version.

The boxscore says he made a FT, which is wrong. He drained a three and a two. As Mike Hartsock would say "check that": they corrected the box and he was 2-2 with a three and a two.

B-Rob
Brian Roberts' game high seventeen points (in eleven minutes) ties his NBA career high.
B-Rob came out in the fourth quarter at the six minute mark when Irving went around him for an and-one,
tying the score at 79 (B-Rob 7 pts, Kyrie Irving 20 pts).
Roberts returned to the game at the 1:48 mark with the Hornets trailing 94-85
(Irving 33 pts, Roberts 7 pts) and out-scored Irving 10-2 down the stretch.
The Cav's led 5-0 at the 10:20 mark in the first quarter, and won the game 105-100.
Great game.

points per minute...65th overall
http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/pl...t/freeThrowPct
I've been amazed how many points Brian puts up in limited minutes (7 in 10 last night), so I looked it up. He's in good company, ahead of Kyle Singler, Ray Allen and Jeremy Lin.
I'd love to see him get 35 minutes just once...not sure it'll ever happen but it would be worth the price of admission.

Well he got 24 minutes tonight and did not do too much with it. But then again nobody on the Hornets did much of anything in that 40 pt loss

BRob apparently had a bad outing (2 points in 24 minutes) in the blow-out loss to OKC a week ago and hasn't played in the two games since. I'm not aware of any injuries.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/brian_....html?nav=page
They play the Lakers tonight at home and it listed on TWC Sports Network (313 in South Dayton) at 8:00, repeated at 2:00AM.

Hornets win 98-96. BRob finishes with a near double-double (9 points, 9 assists) in 42:54 minutes.
Shooting was a little off with 3-13 FG and 1-2 3P.

Me likey----thanks swampy. I believe that there was an injury to Rivers--broken hand that might have something to do with the starting assignment?

New Orleans Hornets will start Brian Roberts in backcourt in place of Eric Gordon

He got the start due to an injury to shooting guard Eric Gordon who is on limited play in back-to-back games and the plan is to continue this for the rest of the season. After Sunday, the Hornets have two remaining back-to-back games: March 17-18 and April 9-10.

Three things we learned in the New Orleans Hornets' 98-96 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers
Check out item 3:

There is also a nice post-game interview video where BRob talks about his first start (and his new son).

Went to the Net/Hornet game last night. Had great seats and had a quick word with BR during pregame. Big smile to hear "Go Flyers".
Life in the NBA can be cruel - start a game one day get :12 the next. Six pts (3 - 6); 1 assist; 1 t/o. Looked very smooth and comfortable on the court. Vasquez doesn't seem to want to pass him the ball. He was wide open a couple of times but no ball.
On a side note, the Barclay's Center is a great venue. Great video board hanging center court & lots of options for food including a Junior's (cheesecake) stand.

Don't understand all the hype with Gordon to begin with, he's a poor mans iverson, do NOT expect to get the ball back should you decide to pass to him.

Saw BRob play last night in Minneapolis.
Only six or seven minutes, it seemed, but he came away with a couple steals and 5 points on 2/3. His team went on a nice run when he was at the point. What I noticed was he was getting beat up pretty good by the Timberwolves. His small size is definitely not an advantage in the NBA and he looks really small standing next to the Hornets' 6'6" starting point guard, Vasquez.
The Timberpuppies center gave BRob a good elbow to the head once and was called for a foul. BRob repeatedly was literally fighting his way through picks.
He had two really bad moments, when their PG, not Rubio, faked him right out of his jock for an easy lay-up and when BRob was taking the last shot of the first half he had the ball stolen from him. But he had really good moments too including two very nice steals and a nice three from deep. He seemed a bit below average on defense and a bit above average on offense versus his peers.
We got there early to see if he would be at the shoot around 90 minutes before game time. But no luck.
Rubio ended up winning the game for the Timberwolves with a nice drive and one, 97-95.

Brob started tonite's game against Denver and their 15 game winning streak. First half...4 pts, 11 assists...New Orleans up 15 pts.

Watching it now. BRob really runs the team quite well. Always looking to set up his teammates. The Nuggets are without Ty Lawson, their best player. I would've liked to BRob go up against Ty to see how he would've done. Oh well, he's playing against old man Andre Miller, the master of the YMCA game.

BRob with 10 assists and it's not even half yet. He is shredding Denver's defense. He is finding his teammates at the best possible time giving them easy shots. They are shooting 55% from the field, mainly because of BRob's excellent floor leadership. He is killing them on the pick and roll. I don't remember watching this BRob at UD. I remember the scorer, he's turned into John Stockton!
Seriously though, he knows how to play the pg position. Really proud of him. All the work he's put in is finally paying off.

By my count and without looking at a box score, BRob has 11 assists to I believe only 2 turnovers. The Nuggets have now put their best defender, Andre Iguodala on him. He's earned some respect.

15 assists after 3 quarters. I noticed when the Nuggets went on their run, NO needed a score badly. They called a play for BRob to run off a screen for a jump shot. Swish! That ended Denver's momentum. The Nuggets tv guys are really impressed with Brian. He's controlling this game and is the best player on the court tonight.

They just took him out. He finished with 13 pts & 18 assists, a NBA high for a rookie this year. The crowd of 8 gave him a standing ovation.
How he doesn't play more is beyond me. He was by far the best player on the court tonight. If the Hornets don't want him, after a showing like tonight, I'm sure George Karl and the Nuggets will take him.
Way to go BRob!

And I believe he tied the NBA record for most assists in a game by a rookie - Spud Webb. And he is actually taller than both those guys!

Very impressive by BRob - both on and off court.
BTW - I work with Brian's brother-in-law. (BRob is married to my co-worker's sister.) He tells me that Brian actually took an income cut to leave Germany and play in the NBA. While the paycheck is a bit more in the NBA, the income in Germany was tax free and there were housing / food perks that made day-to-day living very, very affordable. Maybe that surprises you as much as it did me.
Pretty clear that $ are not the priority. BRob is living his dream.

From ESPN:
The Nuggets' winning streak was well on its way to ending.
"We didn't really talk about that too much," Roberts said. "We had a lot of stuff going on in here in this locker room, so we didn't want to worry about streak busting or anything like that. We just wanted to come out and play together."
Denver missed Lawson, who had averaged 21.8 points in his last 18 games, much more than New Orleans missed starting point guard Greivis Vasquez or Eric Gordon.

Updated game recap

"It doesn't happen if he (Roberts) doesn't work hard," Hornets coach Monty Williams said. "He works his tail off."

I'm so frickin proud of BRob. It's hard not to root for a guy who has worked as hard as he has to get where he is, and one who plays with class. What a great NBA representative for the Flyer program.

Way to go BRob! Watched the game last night and he looked every bit the part of a confident, poised, seasoned pro. One three ball he hit seemed like he was three feet beyond the arc. May as well have been standing in the gulf! He just keeps getting better and better as the weeks go by.

He was pretty far out there, plus he had Wilson Chandler's hand right in his face and he still nailed it.
I have to say, that was the first time (and hopefully not last) that I watched a Flyer tear my NBA team apart. While I was very happy for BRob, it was bittersweet.

Simply awed at how Brian has transformed his passing skills. But maybe he had them all along and we didn't have finishers for him.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure the surrounding cast on an average NBA team has more finishers than, say, the Dayton Flyers of B-Robs day . . .
Brian was a scorer at UD - by necessity. He was also a scorer for Brose Baskets in the Euroleague (two assists per game). His role in the NBA is different, and to his credit he has done a great job adapting to that role.

I think getting the best of Chris Paul is way too much to ask. But for one night, I hope he does.

Brob would be a great person to bring in for inspiration on reaching the nba and talking about improving your weaknesses.

Finished with 13 and 5. Not bad. Saw him take it right to Lebron at end of 1st qtr for a nice teardrop at the buzzer
