#12 Quinnipiac knocks off #5 Marquette. That is a team we lost to by 3. Louisville will win their game.
Two of our close losses to Creighton and Toledo. Creighton won by 26.

UD just hit the bottom of the backboard on a shot attempt. That is not good.

I counted 6 missed shots inside of 2ft. The inability of players to make the most elementary of shots is plaguing college basketball.
We simply make 2ft hook shots, this game is tied at the first quarter. You cant gift opponents 10-12pts in a quarter on blown bunnies. Don't make it any easier for the opposition than you have to.

First half - disaster
Can it get any worse? Probably yes. I think our first half shooting is around 15%. Maybe they are trying hard to make the guys offense against WS look good.
Can't imagine what SG can say at half time. Probably the only way we can win is if the second half shooting percentages are reversed.
This will not help recruiting.
Any one remember when the Dayton women had a worse first half shooting?

4 points from Burdette, Austria, and SGA. Young pups playing well. 10 boards from Harris.

Pretty sad, good thing the bench showed up today. Play them in the 2nd half since they are the ones who brought the team back.
Maybe Jenna, SGA and Kelley will take the lead from the bench players and show up too.

We finally got some defensive stops and started rebounding. Just enough to give us a chance to not trade baskets and ultimately cut into deficit. Wilmoth and Scaife big off bench. Harris 10rbs. We dealt with foul trouble.
Tennessee really hurt us early on offensive glass. We need our bigs to own the glass second half and get 1 and dones. 2nd chance points will kill you.

Amazing, come out tight as a drum and our best three players sit with fouls, but we play defense and rebound and tie it at the half.
Glad Greene made the switch to Wilmott. Not only is she better than Andi, she has three more years.
Shooting 32%, but winning rebounds by 2 and only have 4 turnovers. Holding TN to 36% shooting and zero threes.

Seems Tenn scouted our first 5 well but forgot about our bench players. Hopefully our starters will get it going now.
Gotta play a full 20 minutes out of 20 minutes.

Awesome call by Greene to go zone. Stopped our fouls and stopped TN penetration.

Big loss with Wilmoth going down. Bad frosh mistake going over the back. Now with Grant with three we are stuck with Andi.

Boy Jenna and Kelley not bringing it today. Both played against better competition, like Ky, Louisville and UConn.

Big time experienced players just not stepping up for the flyers. Kelley will not like going out like this, she is a much better player that what she is showing today.

Burdette 1-10 and Austria 2-8 are killing any chance we have. Burdette is unbelievable with misses layups and not even close on her threes.
After playing great D and rebounding, we give up 22 points and a boatload of rebounds. Why we got away from the zone??

Shauna Green did well with her first year achievements. Co A-10 champ and one seed, A-10 tourney champs and NCAA qualifier.....but she has her work cut out for her. Need guards who can handle the ball and score. What we've seen today is a total lack in that area. A real concern going forward. Hopefully we can find post players who have the toughness needed in D1.
All in all they did much better than expected this year, but much like the men coming up short when it counted most.
Lets see the kind of players Shauna can recruit.

When the bracket was revealed, I thought the Flyers had a pretty good path to the Sweet 16,
Tennessee could have been beaten, but with both Jenna's and Kelley's shooting off, it was near impossible. I thought the team played OK, but OK isn't going to do it in the tournament.
All in all, good season for the Flyers. Can't wait until next season!

7-26 from our two best players. You want them to bring it in the big game, but just was not to be. Not like TN played great D against them.
We let TN outrebound us by 8 and shoot 50% in the second half. What is it with college coaches that they refuse to play zone, even when it works? We gave up 9 pts in the second quarter playing zone.

I thought Tennessee's defense was excellent. That said you have to make a few shots inside 2ft to give yourself a chance. Vols contested most of them but still gotta finish.
We just ran up against better players who are bigger stronger and faster. Nobody on the UT team was probably recrutied by UD and nobody on UD was probably recruited by UT. at some point DNA is going to prevail.
Flyers could have executed/finished much better, but Vols were pretty sloppy too. This was not the team today that beat ND and others. Neither squad was at their best.
Overall considering the crazy circumstances and injuries this year, what Shauna got done is nothing short of a huge success. The key now is seeing how this staff does w/o the senior class and what kind of recruiting they can generate to bring in the style of player they want and need. NCAA teams are still largely built on recruiting. It will make or break you.

I am fairly sure that there is a signing period in april. It will be interesting to see if they were able to find a couple of more players for next season.

Agree with Chris, there is something to be said for bigger, stronger and faster. UT was, we not so much. No knock on out squad, we did really well this year, especially given the circumstances as the season started. UT seems to have dropped off a bit with their coaching change, but still recruit at a higher level that the Flyers. That may be hard to change, coaches do have a challenge before them.

To me the difference yesterday was De Shields. Put her on UD and they win despite not playing well was not impressed with UT at all.

Amen Barney. We had the equal players other than DeShields. I saw her play for NC as a freshmen, and she was very special. Too bad we missed some of those wide open shots.

They have the NCAAs wrong. Kelly made 4 and the other seniors made 3 tourneys. Last season was the only year in the last 7 we havent made the dance.

How tall is Harris? I hear 6'3" and 6'2", and now the DDN has her at 6'1". I guess it depends on what heals she wears.

This loss was largely on our poor point guard play. Jenna, she had nothing. Did not adjust to Tenn size and quickness inside, couldn't hit anything outside, did not distribute and played terrible defense. Unfortunately, LC just dribbled around and couldn't even get a decent look.
