Faye played back before video streaming came to the program, so I never got to see her play, but I know people who did and I respect their volleyball knowledge. They all say she was really, really good. Good like Rygelski was good this year. When everyone on the court knows
she is getting the set and they still can't stop her. Very well deserved honor.
On a side note, I had no idea UD use to have a hockey team and with more than 100 players coming back to honor their coach, that is just a great Flyer story and speaks so well to how alumni of UD love this university. It should be very special on Saturday.

Obviously the stats in that article make it sound like Faye deserves to be in the Dayton Hall of Fame. But if you did get a chance to watch her, it was a real treat. Most of all I remember her running lots of successful slides from the middle. She would even fake a quick jump in the middle before breaking towards the right side of the net. She had so much success on the slide, it felt like a certainty that Dayton would get a point if she started sliding to the right.
I joined UDpride back in 2007, not long after Faye graduated. 19 has never been a significant number for me, but when I wanted to create my username I wanted it to have some thing to do with Dayton. I used Faye's number of 19. She's probably a big reason why I enjoyed watching volleyball and am still paying attention to it. I bet a lot of recruits came into Frericks, watched Faye compete and said yes to Dayton. She helped build this program. It would not be consistent program in the top 25/50 right now without her contributions. She was also very nice and was a perfect for the Dayton community. She deserves this.
