Flyers vs Kentucky
Caught most of the 6-0 Flyer win over Kentucky yesterday at Baujan. Did not expect this kind of match. UK lost only one real starter - their top scorer - from last fall's NCAA first round team - so a competitive match was expected. I am assuming all UK's team played. They have a top-15 recruiting class coming in. Shots on goal - per scoreboard - were 8-2. Flyers pretty much controlled the whole match. Very little for the defense to do. Our keepers had no dangerous chances to handle. The offense was super super efficient - and the scores were top-notch. UK keeper had very little chance on any of them. First goal was a rocket from corner of box to far upper 90. Second was Willy on a rebound. Third was Willy where she held off the defender and was able to turn and shoot. Best goal of the day, however, was by Libertine. She went straight at a defender from midfield, got to the top of the box and did a step-over to juke the defender slightly and open up a small window, then pulled the trigger to finish on a shot that kissed off the right post. Just as good as it gets. Libertine looked really really good all day. She did about whatever she wanted down the line - and made several good cut-backs to the middle to open up space for herself and teammates.
Don't want to put too much on a meaningless Spring match, but Coach Tucker has to have been pleased with what he saw.
