Brittany Ward
Saw that @udpride retweeted news that Butler Sophomore F Brittany Ward is transferring to Dayton.

Her @BrittanyWard03 twitter account is 'protected' but her info block contains '#RIPGRANNY Nellie Mae Scaife'.

She played in only two games for a mediocre team. She started every game last year, then was injured over the summer and again this season. Averaged 9.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest as a freshman. A starter in all 31 games. Ward is 6'1" and was the #22 player in her class. Sounds like a huge get.

Welcome Brittany!
She was 34th ranked in ESPN's top 100 as a senior. That is a pretty high rank. She wants to play at the next level. She can see that the Flyers are still a program that has major upside. We get a couple more like this and we are going to be strong into the future.
I am excited to see her coming to UD. My question is...when is she eligible?
She has to sit a year, but if she gets into school sooner, isn't she eligible sooner?
Go Flyers!

Perhaps that is something someone can ask Coach Green at this Sunday's season ticket holder pre-game 'chalk talk'.

If she can get here and into school for this semester, Jan 17, I believe, she would be eligible to play the first game after the end of first semester 2017.

I have my doubts it will be addressed Sunday since no official announcement can be made until it's cleared through the compliance department.

Agreed. Then perhaps a savvy radio guy could ask the question at the appropriate time then!

I consider this the second of two very good additions coming in next year. One more would be great, anything beyond that would be way way beyond expectations.

From some research it appears she tore her plantar fascia last year and may have reinjured it while trying to come back this year. Hopefully the time off will give her a chance to heal and be ready to play once first semester is over next December which is when mid-year transfers usually become eligible.

The plantar fascia injury is a nagging kind of injury---not unlike the achilles tendon. But should not be an issue with a year to treat it. Probably a boot for some period and a good look at her footwear and some orthotics.
What a great pick up for the program.

That's what I'm hoping for.
I run around 2200 miles a year and plantar fasciaitis is the worst pain I have ever experienced. I can't imagine what tearing it would be like. The only thing that ever worked for me when it hurt was resting it and not running at all. Hopefully the rest will turn her back in to the top 100 player she was coming out of high school.

On my tennis teams there have been 3 players dealing with PF. Their idea of "laying off" for a while to let it heal is to only play 3 times a week instead of 6 times a week. Duh.
It gets a little better and they are back to playing twice a day. My guess is to beat it the boot would have to be on for at least a month with no stress at all. Then therapy for several months. Possibly a shot or two. And then some anti-inflammatory gel applied twice daily for an extended period. Brittany has the perfect off-season to do all that and recover 100%.
Some experienced doctor or trainer has to put the fear in her that if she does not do all that, PF will come back.

Looks like she went from a stellar Freshman year to an unfortunate injury. Somewhere in the lengthy rehab process, where she had a relapse, she decided Butler wasn't the right fit.
Might be their bad record last year, and a worse record this year.

Had a chance to get to know Brittany while she was at Butler. She is an excellent young woman who will represent UD well on and off the court. Had some big games in the Big East as a freshman. At the very least, she will lead the team in rebounding for the next 2-plus seasons. Excited for both Brittany and Coach Green.

Brittany finsihed her Masters at George Mason and will join Jenna Burdette as an assistant at Marshall. Marshall has a new coach who retained Jenna and it appears bumped her up in the pecking order.

After a brief stint (one month) at Marshall, Brittany hired at George Mason after a vacancy occurred. She must have liked it there.
