What they failed to mention is that the Flyers also played in the NCAA tournament. Come on that is better than a couple of teams making the WNIT.
Go Flyers!

Nov 14: @Quinnipiac
http://www.quinnipiacbobcats.com/new...nce-slate.aspx
Time for a little payback...
The two sides met in an epic duel last season with Quinnipiac overcoming a 17-point third quarter deficit (largest deficit overcome to win a game in program history) to score a 63-60 victory in Dayton.

I like the "power" reference but the mid-major thing gets old...
The 2017-18 home opener comes next as the Bobcats play host to fellow mid-major power Dayton on Nov. 14 (7:00 PM tip-off). Both sides have enjoyed recent memorable NCAA Tournament runs with the Flyers advancing to the Elite Eight in 2015. Dayton won the Atlantic-10 title in 2017, marking their second conference championship in three seasons and the 10th straight season in which the team advanced to a national postseason tournament.

Here's something I don't get - why do we have to learn of these games from the web sites of the other teams? The more UD "markets" the better it is for the program including schedule release.

I guess WBB is taking their lead from MBB....
In this July 1 DDN interview Coach Green indicated James Madison, Virginia and Green Bay would be on the home schedule. No dates given but one could surmise that the WBB schedule is complete and could be released.
http://www.mydaytondailynews.com/spo...qUneFvG3GS2KM/
Q: How is the schedule looking?
A: I thought last year was hard. Last year was the hardest schedule we ever had. This year you don’t have the UConns and the big names, but in terms of the RPI, it’s probably harder than last year. We have a few more home games, which I’m excited about, and some good home games. We have James Madison here, Virginia here and Green Bay here. Those are three really tough games in terms of RPI. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ve got to do that to put ourselves in the best position for the end of the year.

I wonder if UD is talking with Florida Atlantic and would they offer a home-and-home?

FAU is just not that good (yet)...if Dayton ever does play a Jabir led FAU I suspect it will be after all Jabir era Dayton recruits have graduated.

I don't believe Dayton would agree to a H and H. As stated by jaburr91, they aren't that good yet. Actually they have been terrible. At this point I don't think we would even want them for buy game. Jabir's recruits at Dayton will definitely be gone before FAU is ready to play Dayton. (And that's not a dig at Jabir. He has taken over a program in about the same state as Dayton was when he arrived. It's going to take a couple of years.)

The other teams have their schedule complete. Our schedule needs to be completed/finalized before it can be released.

It seems UD has gotten away from playing other Ohio schools other than Toledo. I certainly hope Wright St. is back on the schedule and it would be great to recreate the rivalry with "X" and Miami. Heck Bowling Green and Cincinnati would be nice as well.

This morning a friend of mine was told that the schedule isn't out because they still don't have all the contracts signed. Said they are having trouble getting the contracts back and that it is so difficult to get teams to come to the arena.
Seems to me scheduling has become more difficult since the E8 in 2015.

Dec 20: University of South Florida (New Orleans Shootout)
Dec 21: Michigan State/Mississippi Valley State (New Orleans Shootout)
http://www.basketballdestinations.com/Events.html
https://www.thedailystampede.com/201...sic-scurrrrred
Possibly the toughest non-conference schedule of any USF team in any sport ever got a bit easier today, and not by choice. Baylor women’s basketball pulled out of the New Orleans Shootout tournament on December 20-21, where they would have played USF to open the weekend.
Baylor has made the NCAA Tournament 16 of the last 17 seasons, and won the national championship in 2005 and 2012. Instead, USF will now play Dayton.

Non Conference schedule announcement
http://www.daytonflyers.com/news/201...-schedule.aspx
As of this writing it wasn't up on the website yet. (I counted 6 including the exhibition.)
A10 has announced the conf schedule is being released tomorrow, but that may just be the men's.

Wow -- this schedule will win the program no new fans. I'm sad and disappointed.
What I really don't understand is why that lamer-by-the-year "school day" couldn't have been paired with a team where attendance is sure to be low(er). But I guess they didn't have many games to work with. <sigh> I'm being a grump but to me having the "school day" game against one of the two "good" home games is a stick in the eye to season ticket holders.
Only thing worse is if A10 play starts in early December like last year.

Interesting. It appears that maybe the women are stuck in the same problem as the men. No big name teams want to play us, and decent teams do not want to play at UD Arena.
It will be tough to get an at-large bid off of this schedule. Of course the conspiracy theory says, that is just the way the Big 5 is designing it.

One of the things I am disappointed with is the exhibition. That is a home game for the football team at 1 and it is senior day. Why not start this exhibition game at 3:30. It isn't like they are playing a school from California in that game.
Go Flyers!

If UD runs roughshot over this non-con schedule (and does okay in the A10) they will be a #5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This may be the best non-con schedule in the last 5-7 years. Im guessing there aren't 10 other schools in the country playing 8 teams in the non-con inside the RPI Top-75.
RPI/TEAM/REC
#028 UGB 27-5
#030 USF 24-8
#032 QUI 27-6
#041 JMU 24-8
#044 TOL 25-8
#049 HAR 20-8
#053 UVA 19-12
#074 TUL 16-14
Other than three buy/gimmes, this schedule is brutal.
It does lack brand names, but these programs are great RPI teams yet with the same kind of personnel you can beat more easily than Power-5 teams with better size/athletes/depth.

This schedule is crap. Deters recruits from wanting to play here and adds little in the way of entertainment for the fans.
I don't buy that power teams don't want to come here. Its not like the men where we pack in 13,000 rabid fans to back the team scaring off adversaries.
Why can't we find a better tourney than the minor one in Maine? Tulane, Maine and Harvard. A virtual murders row!!!
Morgan State, Pine Bluff. Mississippi Valley State, REALLY???... go ahead name their conference, or nickname,, hell its hard to guess the state ( maybe Mississippi?)
Well at least we offset these low lights with Quinnipac ( surely we know their conference and nickname) and James Madison ( their only claim to fame being transfer Charles Cooke)
You don't get national recognition and get to another level playing these names, irrespective of the purported RPI . If we win, well we should and if not a black eye. Will be interesting to see what that actually turns out to be after the non con.
What's wrong with playing a few more schools with a brand????

Actually the real reason recruits don't want to come here is they read your posts and gauge all flyer fans as being like you.

What makes any of us think these teams on our schedule arent saying the same thing about us? "Dayton? You serious? Beating Dayton doesnt impress anybody -- who cares about their RPI and routine NCAA bids...nobody wants to watch us play Dayton...we should play less competitive name brands like Wisconsin or Wake Forest instead..."

What needs to be pointed out is that it's hard for UD to schedule power 5 teams, many won't do a home and home and some will demand two home for one road. That's not an excuse but instead a pleasant dilemma brought on by the program success. I will again repeat where is Wright St.and other area institutions?

I think I mentioned in a post last year that WSU wanted contract changes that UD would not agree to. According to a very reliable source, Wright St wanted to be paid to play at the Arena. They wanted to be buy game. (Odd because their men won't agree to a buy game) UD would not agree to it. They had played alternating H and H each year for a long time. Wright St wanted a different contract for last season, UD said no. The last time we played at WSU, there were more Dayton fans by far at that game. Maybe they just didn't want us at their place again.

Only 69 days until the Ark-pine bluff game!!! Wooohooo------- Let's start a countdown. Who else is camping out to get tickets??? Maybe Shauna will bring us pizzas. gonna be an epic non conference.
Actually, who needs a great non conference schedule anyway when we can just wait for the blockbuster games of the A10..... bring on Duquesne and Bonaventure and Lasalle, et al.

They probably just need the money that badly out in Fairborn.
I haven't taken the time to check their schedules(and won't) but I would guess that their men's and women's teams will start playing more buy games than they have in the past with the financial difficulties that the university, athletic department, and Nutter Center are in from what I have read.
They could be like the Texas Southern men's team and play all their non-conference games on the road to make money. They made 800k last year for 13 road games. Their coach Mike Davis said in an article he'd like to get to 1 million and I think he might have a chance this year.

C-time, you may well be correct. If so, perhaps the men's team would now accept a buy arrangement! (Sorry for the off-topic response, but I couldn't resist.)
