Seven A10 wins...
.....matching last year wins with three games to play. The Flyers have the opportunity to significantly improve on last season's conference performance.
Great....Go Flyers!

Did we win?
Didn't get to see the game, but based on most of these posts, it seems like we lost by 25! LOL Take down the Minutemen Saturday guys, one game at a time...hats off to Archie and Co., guaranteed to do no worse than last year's conference record, and a chance to do a whole lot better.

Thought Archie did great job keeping Devin in and Luke on the bench. Kav really playing well. Have we had a post player get a double-double in back to back games in the past 15 years?

When Paul is shooting well his shot is not so flat. Did you notice his foul shots tonight? They were softer. Hopefully he is like this for the rest of the year.

The comments were negative, because until the last 8 minutes of the game, it was VERY ugly. Had we not turned the ball over with unforced errors, this thing wouldn't have been close.
Some good shooting and tenacity on the boards broke the game loose.

More Luke than Devin. Devin played some decent D, had some really nice rebounds, and some putbacks. His downfall was being sloppy/uncomfortable with the ball. I would take DO on the floor over Luke in a second, if we decide to go with AG or the smaller lineup to compliment MK.
Luke hasn't brought much of anything lately. He appears to be playing hot potato with the ball, on the pass and when he shoots. Nothing comfortable....

missed the game this morning as I actually had to work on something, glad to see news of a victory, I was really worried after Sunday's (my time) heartbreaker, to come back with a nice W on the road shows a lot of guts by these guys. they could have folded their tent for the season and didn't
OK 8AM Sunday and I have no race to run etc, now to find a tv stream for it

According to the box score, our top three in minutes played tonight were:
1) Oliver - 36
2) Dilliard - 33
3) Kavanaugh - 32
After the Staten transfer I think we knew Dilliar would play big minutes, but in October how many people assumed you would see Oliver and Kavanaugh in the top three in minutes played in a road A-10 game that went down to the wire? Fun to see how this team has evolved over the course of the season.

Kudos to Josh Parker - protected the ball and scored.
Posted from South Park tavern - where the beer is great and the officiating (on the tube) sucked.

I was at 7:00 Mass tonight, and only got to see the game from the 16-min 2nd half TO 'til the end. I turned the TV sound down & listed to Larry & Bucky. Larry was not happy at all with the officiating, making several remarks like "That is ONLY Duquesne's 4th foul this half, and at the other end, they're already in the double-bonus."
That said, on the offensive end, I was impressed with the aggressiveness shown at times by PW (taking it into the lane strong on more than 1 occassion) and with the command of the point that JP had tonight, compared to his "usual" (that feed to CJ on the break was absolutely beautiful). On the defensive end, it still wasn't a result like what we regularly saw under BG, but it was good enough to get the W.
IMHO, this was a much closer game than the final score would indicate. The combo of (a) execution on the break, (b) decent defense, (c) dominant board work, and (d) lights-out FT shooting all combined to seal the deal in the last 5 minutes. I especially love these "seal the deal" types of wins. Pin 'em to the mat, and don't let up until the match is officially over.
And now - BRING ON THE MINUTEMEN!!!

A lot of the negatives were because of our 20 turnovers....a lot of which were unforced. Not a pretty game.

The bench was really short last night. Only JP played appreciable (28) minutes. Ralph., Alex and Luke combined for 17. I thought it was going to catch up to us at the end but it looked like they were the ones that ran out of steam at the end.

It's never going to be accepted that we have to play ugly, even when we win, at this time of the season. The issue is that we have many one-dimensional players. If the player happens to be milking his good dimension, he looks all-world. But get him out of that comfort zone and there are some real WTF moments.
Fab without threes is just another hard working support player that struggles on defense.
Devin without defense and rebounding is just another very uncomfortable ball handler.
Josh is fully capable of doing just about anything on a given play--good and bad.
And so forth.
But hey, these are our guys, and that's how we roll. EVERY game is full of those WTF moments, win or lose.
The only consistency is our player's high energy and great intensity. Two pretty good reasons to love them.

And a chance for four A10 road wins...
A team that wins half its conference road games and all, or all but one or two, home games is always near the top of its league.
Road games have been a curse for years. This bunch has a chance for a 0.500 A10 road record. Unfortunately, the Flyers stumbled a bit at home. Still, the fact is we have a shot at a 10-6 A10 record,...which would be a phenomenal accomplishment considering all the circumstances. Even 9-7 would be a big improvement over last year.
Let's keep the ball rolling....one game at a time.

And it faded fast, too! I was a Searcy apologist who thought he should play more over Huelsman. So, those first 2 games, and it was on like Donkey Kong, until he turned into a barrel instead. What a bummer he couldn't keep it going.

I didn't really think Kav played all that great. I knew he had good rebounding numbers, but he missed some easy bunnies and fell asleep a couple times on the defensive side of the floor. I've seen him have much better games.
Numbers can be a little misleading. First, Duquesne has zero inside ability, and that is a big fat zero. Second, Kavs got quite a few rebounds from easy bunnies he was missing. I don't want to take anything away from him, we don't win that game without him and Matt has been HUGE for us this year. If it makes you feel better, he was 4th on my list, I just stopped at 3.
Disclaimer: I only watched the 2nd half.

Hence the kick butt scoring numbers. It has been some time since we have had such balanced scoring. That means a lot.

He was 5-7 shooting so he couldn't have missed too many (actually 2 shots).
