Typically a HS track meet limits the number of 'team' entires to 2 per event but you can enter as many as you want....so Bellbrook can put 5 kids in the 3200 m run and they can finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th but only the top 2 runner's scores will count. So the Lebanon kid who finished 6th would get credit for 3rd and his school/team would get the 3rd place points.
In a large meet the top 8 finishers earn points. In a smaller meet it might be cut down to top 6...my son ran in a meet earlier this season where only the top 3 earned points.
Cross Country only counts the points from the first 5 finishers but lists in it's standings the top 7 overall but you can run as many kids as you want.
