Fordham WBB Coach
Stunner out of Fordham - Coach Gaitley out effective immediately.
Not many details but seems like there's a story there somewhere.

Feels like it happened with no warning. Yep I'm sure there's more to the story. She can flat out coach.

What's odd is the very terse statement Fordham put out there that just leaves our imagination running wild. Two class coaches in this conference with an awesome aggregate record (Gaiteley and Stone) now gone so it'll not just be a season of transition for UD but for two of its rivals as well - who should prosper from this - Rhode Island!!

Former players with blogs and statements about the treatment, wrath, and perceived injustices or double-standards with Gaitley. Investigation going back to January. Sounds like Fordham told her she can leave quietly without using the resignation word, or they'll fire her and she'll have to fight out the terms of her contract in court.
Always hesitant to make quick judgements in cases like this however. We have only heard from a couple former players and have not heard from others who may vouch for Gaitley. Gaitley coaches hundreds of players and every coach will have a few that simply felt they got the shaft. Im sure Grant has a few of those former players. Knowing Fordham however basically told Gaitley to get lost however does suggest Fordham themselves saw enough and wanted the problem to go away for a fresh start.
That's a tough call considering she made that program what it is. Or, maybe it wasn't a tough call.

I saw this from 2001 didn't know about it and I'm not indicting her but has history repeated itself in some manner.. St. Joseph’s women’s basketball coach Stephanie Gaitley, accused of retaliating against a former player who filed a sexual-harassment complaint against Gaitley’s husband, was fired Tuesday after 10 seasons.
``It finally got to the point where we needed to make the decision that we did,″ said Linda Lelii, vice president for student life and academic development.
Gaitley’s husband, Frank, a former assistant coach, was accused of sexually harassing a former player and Gaitley was accused of retaliating against the student after she complained.
