Alabama A&M Game Thread
The real season is finally here... It's been too long... Time to get off to a good start before he head to Puerto Rico!
We'll probably be without Ryan Bass again but you never know... Devon will be back from his suspension, so that's good. At least 9 guys in the rotation is better than 8.
To be honest, I am normally good at figuring out the potential starting lineup but with this team I have no idea... They lost about a half dozen seniors (have 0 seniors on the roster).
One thing I know don't be surprised if a 7'0" 295 pound man starts at center for them... JuCo transfer, will be his 1st year with A&M.
Game is Friday at 7 PM. Should be awesome night especially since an elite eight "banner" should be revealed.

FRIDAY’S DAYTON SEASON OPENER VS. ALABAMA A&M TO BE SEEN ON WHIO DIGITAL CHANNEL 7.2
Telecast Will Also Be Streamed For Free At DaytonFlyers.com

The change is due to a conflict with CBS network programming that cannot be exempted by local affiliates.
WHIO-TV’s broadcast will also be available on a free, live stream on DaytonFlyers.com.
Game time is 7:00 p.m. ET.
Friday’s game will be one of five games televised by WHIO-TV, either on channel 7 or 7.2.

Anyone know if we would get the game on one of the TWC channels in northeast Ohio?

I can't believe the first game is just over an hour away. I still have radio rebroadcasts from the NCAA Tournament to listen to! I have to admit, I just couldn't get enough this offseason of reliving that glorious Elite 8 run. Now it's time to turn the page and get right after it in Game One. Hopefully we'll have a working margin this year unlike IPFW and Game One last year. Still remember jumping around in a mall in Phoenix when Sibert hit the shot. Scary to think that if that shot doesn't fall, the Elite 8 never happens. B-r-r-r! Go Flyers!!

I take back everything I ever said about the "U"s streaming. WHIO your number one chanel for most goofs. Pitiful but predictable. Video of bball game is blury while the vball match streamed by UD is crystal clear.

Who am I mad at? Is the UD's fault or Channel 7s or CBS or the A-10. Who runs this live stream?

Terrible video feed with no sound. Listening to Buckey on WHIO but the timing is way off.
Oh, well, another great Flyers season. Hope those of you in the States have an easier time following the Flyers.

First time that I have seen Pierre since last year's NCAA run. Are we sure this isn't his older brother?
I detect considerable muscle bulk on a terrrible video feed.

What I've seen of my man D. Davis, looks as smooth as I though he'd be on his shots. He's going to be a starter before this season is over and maybe even sooner.

Sibert made a 3.
Bass could be a savior this season. When Scooch goes out and the Davis' run the show, our half court offense struggles. DD looks good though, just not sure he's a PG at this point in his career. He is a shooting guard, that is for sure.

Sibert and Kyle with a basket each and a combined 2 of 9. When Sibert is not hitting his shot he goes away and hides. Hopefully he is saving it for next week.

Sibert needs to take the ball t the hole more and be more of a playmaker this year. He can't rely solely on three pointers like last year.

Yes. That brings back memories. Got to say that I will miss Bucky as the many years when all I could get was an Internet connection to WHIO -- when I was lucky -- made Bucky an old friend.

The next A&M that we face next week will be considerably more challenging. That will be a good assessment of our Flyers.

Good start to the season. Great to watch -- even with the poor video feed -- and read this message board with other Flyers fans. That is the best part of being a Flyer fan.
Looking forward to Puerto Rico.

DS looks like he's going to own the Center position. Great to see.
KD is going to be a force for 3 more years. Really impressed.
DD, well, I think we found our new B-Rob, but I thought that since I saw highlights of him in HS. Smoothest shot I've seen.
DP, our leader and will be a huge force this season and next.
SS, the PG we thought we were getting with JS of WV.
JS, will disappear at times, we know that, but now we have DD to pick up the slack.
JR, better get his head in the game. I will be very disappointed if he doesn't step it up this year.
KP, enough of the crap, you're here to play basketball.

Did Hartsock just say Gruden was no relative of former UD player and coach of the TB super bowl team. Tell me it isn't so.

That's what he said. I thought I read he was Jay Gruden's kid (Redskins Coach) and nephew of our own Jon.
Did I hear wrong?

After last exhibition I was thinking that perhaps Kyle Davis has the makings of more than just defense. Only saw Stat box for game and not actual game.
Wows to Scott, D Davis , Kyle Davis and Pierre and Scooch.
Ok decent start. Will take it and Pollard back

Just watching the replay of the game, heard Hartsock say same thing, rewound game to make sure I was not hearing things. Bottom line is, Hartsock gets worse every year. Glad most of our games are on other networks anymore.
From DaytonFlyers.com- Gruden is a 6-1 sophomore walk-on guard from Leesburg, Virginia. He is the son of Washington Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden and the nephew of UD football legend and Super Bowl winning coach Jon Gruden.

We will be just fine this season.
Sibert only needs to do one thing, that is let the game come to him. He played like he has been reading his clippings.
There is plenty of talent on our team such that no one player has to be "the man".
Trust your teammates. Make your foul shots. Quit reaching in on opponents that have just punked your poor defense. And block out. Take good shots and don't let the ball stick in your hands.
Simple.
