Common Opponent
FAU beat Arkansas State by 7, the Flyers beat ASU by 13
Notes
• FAU has a lot if turnovers and rank 325th in Assists in NCAA
• They rotate their forwards a lot but their main 2 guard play a ton of minutes
• Gantt and Moody pretty much run the show. Frustrate them and/or get them in foul trouble and FAU's offense dissolves
• Good rebounding team (73rd in NCAA) despite lack of size
• Gantt and Moody will shoot a lot of 3's, perimeter defense will be key
• Keep the guards off the free throw line
Observations
• Our bigs should be able to force the issue inside. Sekelja doesn't block shots despite being a 7 footer, and is a prototypical soft european big. Robinson working the ball inside, and Benson's baby hook could be real effective.
• Seems like I say this every week, but DMO will be a big matchup problem for them. Their primary forwards are slight and/or short and their bigger forwards aten't fast
• Vee and whoever else guards Gantt will have to use a lot of energy on D. I think we see a lot of Khari Price for his perimeter D.

Derenbecker showed what Arch said this week. Getting his legs and really getting his shooting eye as a result.
Mike H. said Matt made 25 straight 3's in practice.

MD seems to be coming out of his funk but Gavs is still struggling to find his game.

Good half by the Flyers.
KD is unreal.
Nice to see MD playing with more confidence and his shot is looking real nice.
Oliver already has 8 rebounds. I absolutely love this kid. He brings so much to this team.
These refs stink.

This is a good Flyer team. Gavs looks out of place this year, while last year he an Kavs were playing at the pace of the others. Our speed is much better, as is our D.

we pretty much outrebounded them. but your observations were spot on.
DMO big game. Khari lots of helpful minutes.
Robinson effective. Lots of drives by us and Dillard, and three balls by Matty D and Dillard.

Solid win - not as good as could be, but I'm happy.
Glad to see Matt and Gav in the game and looking better. Matt is back and look out - he will be a force from here on.
As for Gav - I saw two or three good moves to the basket that could/should have gone in. Doesn't matter if they rolled out, they were good moves. Gav will produce in Jan and Feb (and Mar?!)
Can't believe Benson got one (one?) rebound the whole game? Oliver was scooping them all up? I still think Benson's mini-sky-hook could work 5 or 6 times a game. He needs to trust it.
Was it just me or did Sanford seem uncomfortable with his eyeglasses? Are they new this game or did I miss them earlier? I remember when I first got glasses in grade school it was great and bothersome at the same time. I noticed he didn't use them shooting freethrows and slipped them off his eyes every chance he got. Glasses are a pain in the rear with sweat and smears etc, but better than the fuzzy blurry fog without them.
Any insights (pun?) about Sanford's specs?
(He did make some very slick moves and scores tonight. Hope to see more in the next few games.)

Sanford's Specs
will bring him a solid third place in the Herbie Hancock Look Alike contest. Any jazz fans out there?
