As an attorney, I find your comment about people with esquire after their name to be extremely distasteful and uninformed. Do you think the "douchiest" doctors are those who signing their name with an M.D.? Accountants that sign C.P.A.? It's hard work to graduate from law school and to pass the bar exam and lawyers are proud of that accomplishment. I have yet to see a lawyer's business card that DIDN'T say esquire on it.

I've never meet a lawyer that referenced themselves esquire. However, a business card is one thing, making someone refer to you in that way is douchery. And yes, any doctors that insist you call them doctor, is douchery as well. You sign a professional leagal or medical document, esquire or MD, that's fine. You sign a thank you note, swampy, esquire, that's douchery. Same thing goes for CPAs, engineers, nurses, police officers, or any other professional designation. its all about context, there's a time and place for it, and there's a time and place where no body cares and its only being used in hopes of "impressing" someone.
