Coach-Speak

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Watched a bit of the Georgia/Georgia Tech game on TV last night and saw old friend Brian Gregory patrolling the Yellow Jackets’ sideline, along with familiar faces Billy Schmidt and Josh Postorino. The thought crossed my mind as to what BG would have to say in the press room after these first two schizoid Flyer games of the 2013-14 season, were he still coaching here. I can guarantee you it would not be this:

“We’re not playing very well right now…it’s put us in a fog--feet stuck in the mud--mind in the mud.”

“We’re a team that dribbles, dribbles, dribbles, dribbles. We’ll just keep
dribbling. At the end of the day, everyone’s standing and watching.”

No one will ever accuse Archie Miller of attempting to blow smoke up the proverbial tailpipes of the Flyer Faithful. You gotta love Coach Miller for his brutal honesty.

Let’s just hope Archie’s guys wake up and smell the coffee.

-- It never should have come down to it, but watching the replay of Jordan Sibert’s game winning three vs. IPFW just never gets old, especially Archie’s contorted facial expressions (at 1:15 on the video):

-- 29 of 31 UD games will be on some manner of TV, but precious few of those tilts will be available via webcast. Good news for Dayton-area residents; for us out-of-towners, not so much:

-- Archie got signed LOIs from both Steve McElvene and Darrell Davis. Davis’ Detroit Douglass Academy team will be featured at a couple of Detroit area HS tournaments:

-- I would venture a guess that former Flyer Juwan Staten is not a big fan of the new hand check rules, as they cost him two points and the publishing rights to a poster in WVU’s loss to Virginia Tech:

“Dayton has received LOI's from Steve McElvene & Darrell Davis. Nice class for Archie Miller.”
