Let's Dance

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- A visit to one of the many Syracuse men’s basketball Twitter feeds (take your pick: there are @SyrBall; @Cuse; @Cuse_MBB; @syrbasketball, amongst others) provides a wealth of material on Head Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim. Coach Boeheim is the original salty dude -- let’s face it, he’s never happy -- altho he was low sodium Coach B this week.

Let’s crank up the Jimmy B quote machine, shall we?

“This is the happiest I’ve ever been on Selection Sunday.”

“It turned out best for us. We had our punishment last year because we wouldn’t have gone last year.”

“This was the most important selection Sunday I have had in 40 years.”

Coach B said on Mike & Mike that he was “90 percent sure” Syracuse wasn’t going to make the Tournament.

“You sure don’t want a two-hour selection show when you’re not sure.”

"We have a team that's capable. It's not going to be easy, but I like that we have a reasonable chance."

“I’ve seen Dayton play probably seven or eight times this season. They’re the same team that beat us a few years ago.”

And finally, in response to Doug Gottlieb’s comment that any team that lost to St. John’s shouldn’t be in the NCAA Tournament:

"You lose your credibility, if you have any, when you say things like that."

In this Presidential election year, FCC regulations require “FTS” to give equal time to the hometown candidate, Flyer Head Coach Archie Miller:

Highlights of Archie’s interview with Jim Rome include discussions about Syracuse and Jim Valvano:

Coach Miller previews the Syracuse matchup:

Campus Insiders interview with AM:

Archie is ranked #13 in terms of NCAA Tournament Head Coaches as college basketball players (Jim Boeheim is #12):

Sports on Earth which has the Flyers at #38:

The Sporting News which has Dayton at #32:

-- Trivia tidbit: The AdvoCare Invitational is the only tournament that had all 8 participants make the post season. UD went 2-1 in Orlando, with their only loss to an NCAA 2nd seed.

-- ESPN breaks down the Midwest bracket via the wonderfulness of a podcast:

-- Rush the Court shares their thoughts on the Midwest Region and pegs UD/SU as “one of the 1st round games you shouldn’t miss” (as if any of us would!):

And on the Atlantic 10’s post-season teams:

-- The A-10 Talk staff predicts how conference schools will do in the post-season:

-- 538.com sees the Flyers as having a 52% chance vs. The Cuse:

-- Meanwhile despite the fact that the Flyers are favored, stats guru Ken Pomeroy thinks Syracuse has a 53% shot to win vs. UD and that Dayton has a 1 in 1751 chance of winning the Tournament:

-- Former Syracuse Provost and incoming UD President Eric Spina doesn’t mince words as to who he is rooting for on Friday:

-- Hoopville provides us with an analysis of their bracket impressions entitled “Committee continues puzzling obsession with mediocrity” which kinda tells you where their piece is headed:
