Will March Success Bring May Recruits?

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) –- Not a whole lot of shakin’ going on here in Flyerland during the off–season, outside of recruiting. Archie and staff are busy trying to cash in on the Flyers' Elite Eight appearance. Let’s hit the links, shall we?

-- Archie still has two slots open for next year’s Flyers’ squad. Among the players being mentioned in his recruiting funnel are:

Tariq Owens:

Hallice Cooke:

Cooke is good friends with Flyer PG Scoochie Smith.

Eron Harris:

Harris won’t be released by WVU until after the semester ends. UD was in his final list coming out of HS, so you gotta figure Archie has reached out to him.

-- The Washington Post provides a touching profile of all that Tariq Owens and his father have been thru since the death of his mom:

-- The Verbal Commits Dayton recruiting page is loaded with new names in the Class of 2015, including Dillon Brooks, Aaron Falzon and Derek Pardon:

Carlton Bragg and Esa Ahmad while still listed as having interest in UD, are both looking to go big time. Ahmad just got an OSU offer.

-- One Class of 2016 kid with a unique name and game is Brooklyn, NY SG Unique McLean. He has a 43” vertical leap and averaged 31 PPG as a sophomore! Now with video highlight goodness:

-- One of the major reasons for UD’s Elite Eight success in the Big Dance (especially vs. Syracuse) was the Flyers’ offense vs. zone D. Here are the Xs and Os of how Archie drew it up:

-- Speaking of the NCAAs, here is the backstory on how “One Shining Moment” became the national anthem of college hoops:

Or as it was known this year in Flyer Country “Four Fleeting Glimpses.”

-- If this guy known as “The Shot Doctor” makes house calls, we need him to come to UD to work on Kendall Pollard’s FT shooting, STAT:

-- Hey, there is hope for an A-10 school looking to book a home-and-home with a BCS program: GW inked a deal with UVA for 2014 and 2015:

And to answer your question in advance, no, I haven’t heard back from Coach K about scheduling a home-and-home with UD.

-- Great podcast of “The Voice of the Flyers” Larry Hansgen interviewing former UD star and current Milwaukee Buck Chris Wright:

-- Chris Johnson was one of the very few bright spots in a forgettable Boston Celtics NBA season:

-- Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com has become the unofficial keeper of the “Transfer List” which is now well over 400 guys:

-- Here are the 75 players who have applied for early entry to the NBA Draft:

Keep in mind that there are only 30 NBA teams and two rounds of the draft, so many of these guys are smokin’ the draperies by coming out early.

-- This “Gruden vs. Gruden QB Camp” parody featuring impressionist Frank Caliendo and “Coach Chucky” is totally spot-on and absolutely hilarious:

-- While we are talking parodies, the “Not Bill Walton” twitter page is as off the charts as the real BW is:

That’s it “From the Swamp.”
