BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- Welcome to Flyer Nation, Dayshon “Scoochie” Smith! The NYC CG (ranked #121 by Rivals) gave Archie the good word on Friday, joining Chicago PG Kyle Davis (#109) to form UD’s first Rivals 150 backcourt combo since they started ranking HS players. Next on Coach Miller’s hit list is Chicago SF Kendall Pollard. In case you haven’t seen it, here is KP’s rather impressive mixtape:

Get it done, Arch!

Elsewhere on the intrawebs:

-- RushtheCourt.com asks the question: “Can the New and Improved Atlantic 10 Eclipse the Crumbling Big East?”

Answer: Hell, yeah!

-- Meanwhile, the Atlantic 10 was the recipient of some great press. First, from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports:

Then the newest member of the A-10, the Butler Bulldogs, got some love courtesy of WISH-TV in Indy:

While the Richmond/VCU intra-city rivalry caught the attention of Gary Parrish at CBS Sports:

-- The Flyers were picked by the conference coaches to finish 8th in the A-10 this season:

Look at it this way: Archie’s guys haven’t proven anything yet, so it’s hard to pick them first; conversely, they are far from the worst squad in the A-10, so you can’t suggest that they will finish last. Somewhere in the middle sounds about right…and 8th is smack dab in the middle!

-- Here is a link to a cool site called Verbal Commits which, as the name implies, keeps track not only of verbals, but the current UD roster and all recruits currently holding Flyer offers:

-- The total number of transfers in college hoops during 2012? An amazing (and disturbing) 445 players and growing!

-- Great piece by Tom Archdeacon in The DDN on former UD soccer player Krystal Byrne from Arch’s hometown of Ottoville, OH who is battling some pretty serious health issues:

Shoot Krystal a get well email when you have a minute.

-- When nobody was looking, the former Scout.com website morphed into FoxSports Next:

-- ESPN announced the upcoming schedule for their excellent documentary series “30 for 30.” My cable system has “Benji” (which profiles Chicago Simeon star Ben Wilson) available in their On-Demand library and it is excellent:

-- Check out 4’5” Jamani Love hooping it up at Venice Beach, site of the opening scenes in the flick “White Men Can’t Jump”:

Man, talk about a tough guy to cover!
