Division 4 Sucks

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- It’s bad enuf that the BCS football schools have permanently scrambled conference lineups across college athletics, all in search of the almighty dollar. Now there is talk of the same cash-crazed cretins creating a so-called “Division 4” which would spawn a separate championship just for the Big Boys. The “in-crowd” would include The Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, ACC, and SEC, to the exclusion of any and all other D-1 football programs.

The next logical step? Division 4 for college basketball, that’s what! And there is no way to sugar coat it, this possibility sucks, plain and simple.

RushTheCourt.com has the scary story:

CBSSports.com provides more details:

The list of losers in this perverted proposition is rather long -- all of the New Big East, the entire new American Conference, the MAC, MVC, the Atlantic 10 and yes, your Dayton Flyers.

I watched “Katz Korner” on ESPNU the other night when Archie made an appearance. When asked about Division 4 and its impact on college hoops, one of the BCS coaches said it would actually be good for the smaller schools. His rationale was that instead of getting knocked out in the first round, the little guys ‘could have their own championship’ totally eliminating the possibility of a “Cinderella Story” like VCU, Butler or UD in 1967 making the Final Four.

To that I say:

“BS”

Elsewhere in college hoops:

-- Let’s face it, with offers from UK, Michigan, Duke and a host of other hoops powers the chances that Franklin HS star Luke Kennard decides to play for the hometown Flyers are remote at best. However watching videos of his exploits allows us to catch other UD recruiting targets on the King James Shooting Stars like Kyle Ahrens, AJ Harris and Nate Fowler:

I noticed you posted a link to Forbes magazine's list of colleges based on ROI. Of course, it rated UD unfavorably.

I have seen a number of these cockeyed lists from Forbes covering a number of varied subjects (places to live, places to work, best jobs, places to retire, cities for singles, and on and on) and most aren't worth reading. It seems Forbes is like the cartoon character Dr. Ludwig Von Drake, that noted authority on just about everything.

Well, try hard facts from Payscale.com.
