Dayton vs. KY.
Need help with history record. Is Dayton 2-2 against KY or 2-3? One search tool showed 2-2 and a KY fan found in their history records it was 2-3 with the missing game happening in the 1946-47 season. Their records showed who the star players for both teams were in a game, but nothing is shown for the 46-47 season. What is up?

2-3 according to the UD media guide. It shows UK beating UD 70-29 (ouch) on Jan 11, 1947.

I was there for the 68-66 win in Cincinnati in ‘99. I took my Dad. Awesome experience.

James Carter's last year as coach, went 4-17. TB took over in 47-48, went 12-14, his only losing season. the rest is history.

Dayton did better than Xavier when playing Kentucky. Kentucky has 37 wins vs 2 losses when playing Xavier.

I was there, too, with my wife and daughter. What a rush! The only downside was, shortly after returning to Dayton that night, I got a call from one of my cousins to tell me his mom (my aunt) had passed away. A tremendous high and a sorrowful low, all within a couple of hours.

I was at that game as well. Home team but only got about 20% of the tickets for U.D. fans. And we had to play them in Cincinnati. It was great how the Flyer Fanatic was cheering at the end.

According to KY Media Guide…Dayton had a total of 8 players and KY had 16. Probably just wore them down.

Flyer Dave, that was one of my biggest memories. We were so loud at the end. All the Big Blue people, and we were louder.

The look on the KY fan faces were priceless, walking out of the venue.

I was there for that Kentucky game too. A funny thing happened which could have been a major problem. I had bought four tickets but only three of us could go, so we put our coats on the fourth seat. A group came up and said that was their seat, could we move our coats. I said it was our seat but we'll move the coats. He said, no, it was their seat. We showed each other our tickets and we both had tickets for the same seat! I have no clue how that could have happened. If all four of our people had gone it would have been a major problem! Anyway, it was a GREAT game and the Kentucky fans were STUNNED! That game put UD back on the map.

I was at that game. I lived and worked in Kentucky at the time. Had an office at work and hung a UD flag (big 3 x 4 flag )on the door early in the week. Lot of comments like "oh, how cute" and "you actually think you have a chance? That's funny!". etc etc ad nauseum.
Get to the game, we are in the top row opposite where most UD fans were. Wall right behind me. Found out that wall rang loud (or should I say lowd) when I hit it. UK fans got annoyed with me hitting it when Dayton had a nice run. At one point we fall behind by 10 on a nice play by UK. UK fan turns to me and my friends and goes "how bout dem apples Dayton Fans?" With a little less then a minute left the KY fans in my area were standing up and leaving. I couldn't resist. "Hey.....them apples taste pretty darn good!!!"
My flag took some physical abuse on Monday at work, but it was worth it being able to talk smack back to all the UK fans that gave me crap all week leading up to the game!

I would say UD-UK and the Pitt game under BG are probably the two best Flyer games I've been to

That UK game really had that "we're back" feeling to the program. I think it came after the big Maui run in 1999? But if Im not mistaken that team that beat UK started 8-0 and then got waxed up at Cleveland State. If we beat CSU I think we get ranked...or just got ranked and then fell out never to appear again.

The 1999-2000 team did not compete in Maui. The following season, UD competed in Maui and upset Connecticut, lost to Arizona and then upset Maryland.

Note: This was a UK home game not a UD home game, thus UD's limited tickets. UK thinks of itself as a national basketball program. It has a huge following in Cincinnati. So UK started scheduling games at Riverfront Coliseum so it's Cincy fans that could never get tickets into Rupp could see "their Big Blue" play. 1st time was the 1991-1992 season when UK beat Ohio U. Then skipped a couple years and played Texas Tech in 94-95. Oddly, pulled off a conference game there in 96-97 vs Vanderbilt. Starting in the 98-99 season they played one "home" game a year in Riverfront Coliseum every year through 2005-06. Interestingly, their opponent the year before our Flyers was our neighbors, the Wright State Wrong University Raiders. The year after us was Jacksonville State, then after that it was nothing but MAC schools (Ohio 2 more times, Kent St, Marshall, Ball St).
Anyhow, I just wanted to clear up why we only had 20% tickets, because we were the visitors.....and the fact we were the only team in all of those games to beat UK at Riverfront!!! WE ARE...UD!!!!
I think we did play a "home" game one year at Riverfront against Louisville, but someone else will have to verify that for me.

I believe Dayton did a "home and home" with Louisville where Dayton was the "home" team in Cincinnati. Didn't matter, as the Flyers won both.

2006 UD defeats Louisville 68-64 at Riverfront Coliseum. The following year UD defeated them at Freedom Hall 65-60, also defeated them at Freedom Hall in 2000. I was at each of those games.

I was at both Riverfront games against UK the 'Ville plus Pitt and Ed Young's shot against DePaul and against Notre Dame when we destroyed them at home when they were highly ranked-the sit down Digger game.

It is now Heritage Bank Arena. My son played junior hockey there last year. It’s still a dump.

It is in need of some/maybe a lot of renovation. Pretty sure paint was pealing off some walls the last time I was there. It is not terrible IMO, but it needs some work.
I would guess that maybe there is a problem with keeping the condensation off the basketball floor due to the ice hockey rink underneath. Teams might not want to risk getting injured with slipping and sliding. If the rest of the building has some problems, then the condensation is probably an issue too.
The owner I think can't afford to/doesn't want to pay to renovate it or build a new facility on that same footprint, and the city/state iinm will not help out/will not help out enough with the needed funding.

There are around 60 home hockey games played at Heritage Bank between the ECHL Cyclones and the junior team. The junior team had practice 4-5 days per week as well. There are serious scheduling problems setting up for basketball games.

Didn't UC play their home games there a couple of seasons ago while their arena was being renovated?

I think they played most of their games at NKU’s stadium.
