Mississippi Thread
8 pm tonight if you don't have Flo Hoops Ole Miss radio is 105.1 - may remember Angel Baker the transfer from Wright St. who was the conference "6th woman of the year" last season - their Coach is actually in the Bahamian HOF - when she took over she endured an 0-16 conference mark but they were in the NCAA Tourney last year

This bothers me - I know Coach doesn't have much choice with a lack of bodies but Destiny coming off injury can not keep this up...
Individually, Destiny Bohanon ranks third in the nation in minutes played and 12th in field goal attempts.

Just listened to the Coach on WBB Instagram. I heard the words "7 players live" so doesn't sound like we have gotten anyone back.

Both teams shooting around 30 percent from the field - UD has to do better on interior passing they keep getting picked off - after one 17-15 Ole Miss.

Seven in a row for Ole Miss up 26-21 UD timeout as a possession was going nowhere with the shot clock bleeding.

I guess could be worse- no points in a five minute stretch outscored 11-0 but down only five at half 30-25.

38-32 Ole Miss tv timeout in the third - helps that Ole Miss is not a good three point shooting team - Flyers pretty solid defense - hope lack of players doesn't hurt in the fourth quarter.

40-38 Ole Miss 2:16 left in the third Flyers just beat Ole Miss down the court twice - one fastbreak basket by Bohannon and another by Wheeler caused the timeout by the Rebels Destiny leads with nine points

Cant have 20 TOs and 18 baskets. 20 TOs in a 50-60pt pace is just way way way too many. That needs to be in the 10-13 range. We are averaging 20 TO per game. Not going to give ourselves a chance to win until we value the basketball.
Ole Miss had more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds. Ole Miss took 24 more shots than we did. Even shooting just 33% on the night if you score on 1/3 of those thats a minimum 16pts -- the box says it was 23.
We have zero size so getting crushed on the boards is not a shock. But we can control TOs and right now we're not. That said, we hung in there for 3qtrs and put ourselves in position to get a W. But 10pts in the last 4th qtr wont cut it. Most 4rth qtrs for us have been disasters. You lack poise with youth and inexperience.
I feel for Meek. The solution doesnt exist on the whiteboard no matter what she draws up. At some point the players gotta make plays.
SOME EARLY A10 STATS:
- Only team without win
- Last in defensive PPG
- Second to last in TO margin
Our FG and 3PT FG is middle to upper half of the league. If we can get some more shots up we'll have a chance. But that means lowering the apple turnovers.

I worry about the mental psyche of these players as these losses pile up and the Coach may have to play psychologist more than strategist as we continue. She has the motivating personality to do so.

I am sure Coach will call on Dr Becky, the Athletic Department psychologist on staff since 2019. She has been at UD since 2002, and even prior to 2019 she worked with/helped many athletes. Coach mentioned her at the chalk talk when she told about having the team take personality testing and discovering almost the entire team are introverts. I believe she is on the bench at home games. I know she has really helped players on the WBB team going back to Jabir's tenure.

Dr. Becky could be a good option today after another tough loss - introverts hold in their frustrations so venting sessions could be beneficial.
