A reason wasn't given - my guess is because of a short roster, however, that puts a huge December hole in the schedule so let the speculation begin.

I'm guessing non competitiveness. A&M may have also requested a change because they would not want to travel to Vegas to play a zero or one win team and penalize their NET no matter the score. I'm just speculating. It could also be related to the unflattering venues and accommodations reported with another Vegas WBB tourney that looked like it was being run by the local Jaycees.
Right now we need all the practice we can get.

Cowards? Because we are winless and not competitive ? Whatever the reason this is embarrassing beyond our devastatingly bad showing so far. # 343 of 350 in turnover margin!!

Maddog, yes this is unusual to have these cancellations but "cowards" seems a bit harsh to me? Do you go to any of the games? If so seek me out, I'm not hard to find - would love to meet and talk.

There can be several acceptable reasons why we cancelled. If it was because we would not be competitive, that is totally unacceptable. I hope that is not the case. UD needs to make a statement, so there is no confusion.
If we go 28-0 or 0-28, you play the games and give it your best.

Sorry Maddog I think some of this clears up Dayton bowing out of the Las Vegas - the following courtesy of ESPN...
Three women's basketball teams have withdrawn from a Las Vegas tournament as part of continuing fallout from a similar event at a Strip resort over Thanksgiving weekend where safety concerns were raised.
Dayton, Purdue and Texas A&M are out of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic at South Point Arena. Those schools, according to tournament operations manager Bret Seymour, had agreed to be additions to his tournament in coordination with officials from Destination Basketball, which ran the Las Vegas Invitational last month at The Mirage.
"We are all about giving our players the opportunity to play the game they love," Texas A&M coach Joni Taylor said in a statement. "Given the circumstances surrounding the Las Vegas Invitational, we decided to withdraw from the tournament. We are very thankful to Purdue for being adaptable and for allowing us to host them" instead.
The Las Vegas Invitational experienced many problems, including not having medical personnel on site, which resulted in Auburn freshman Kharyssa Richardson lying on the court for 50 minutes after falling hard and appearing to hit her head before EMTs arrived.
Sport Tours International runs the South Point tournament as well as two others in Las Vegas, and it has overseen events in the city for 14 years.
Seymour said the three Power 5 teams discovered they would be playing at South Point rather than The Mirage and decided to withdraw.
"Destination Basketball had the contracts with Purdue, Texas A&M and Dayton," Seymour said. "We did not. ... We were surprised they claimed they didn't know."

Reading furthur comments from event organizers, they say the remaining five schools are happy that the "three power five schools", are not there because the five remaining schools are non power five schools and prefer to keep it a non-power 5 event.
