Chamberlain
Coach Chamberlain is retiring. He is a good guy and a good coach.
Thanks coach for so many great years! Best of luck in your future!
A new beginning for the program. I hope they don't scrap this program.
Go Flyers!

No way they scrap it and no reason to with Pioneer League and non-scholarship format. We’re in a very competitive peer group that meets a need for talented young men. They may just break even or incur a soft loss some years - that’s why men’s basketball is the critical economic engine.
Expect a thorough National search and potential “outside the box” hire. Not sure any existing assistants are candidates. The expectation is to win 80% of our games and compete for championships. It will take a special man doing it more for love than money. Some rising stars might view Dayton as a stepping stone. Davidson is a good example - 4th year coach Abell spent 10 years at DIII Washington and Lee. Look for that type of profile.

What was it 48 years as player & coach?
Long time and well deserved to have some "down/free" time.
Thanks Coach for your service!
Go Flyers!

The format of the Pioneer is an excellent fit for the Flyers. While we don't break even each year the total expense are north of 1M. a small cost for having the program. I would guess the football program is roughly 3-4% of the total athletic budget. but I don't have exact figures.

A couple names to think about, albeit both young and no HC experience:
Tee Overman, current DC (Wingate ‘07)
https://daytonflyers.com/sports/foot...e-overman/5273
Kevin Hoyng, OC Wittenberg (Dayton ‘07)
https://www.wittenbergtigers.com/spo...Hoyng?view=bio
Former assistant Austin King, now OL coach for Bears (surely a pay cut)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_King
Landon Fox (DC) left Dayton for Valpo a few years ago and hasn’t exactly set the world on fire.
Jay Minton (30yrs at Wayne) is a part time assistant but seems old for the part.

Neil told me he will not be the guy who killed Dayton football. Someone else maybe but not him. He said it has too much tradition.

Hoyng is out I think his wife is head BB coach at Marquette
Overman Maybe
King probably not gonna take the pay cut
Fox is a possibility and it's hard to get players to Valpo , place is a dump
but he has fire in his belly and is a decent recruiter

If Dayton were to drop football . . . there would be no reason to have a marching band. Two programs would be killed for the price of one.
