Season Updates
Decided to make a new thread instead of spamming the Vandy thread.
Nice bounce back win yesterday for the Flyers. Blitzed BGSU 14-4. It was pretty much over from the jump after the Flyers plated six ruins in the first inning. The scoring was capped off by a grand slam from MacDougall.
Up next is a home series against hapless EIU. The Panthers are 3-11, 250 in the RPI, and have not won a series yet this season.

Awesome comeback for the W this afternoon.
Flyers were up early, but went down 6-3. Flyers cut the lead and then were able to tie and take a 9-6 lead in the top of the 9th. I was able to watch this one live as it was on ESPN+ and the comeback was sweet and helped wash away last night's putrid bile from my mouth.
Game two is tomorrow @ 2PM. I made a typo in the first post, this EIU series is actually on the road.

Another wild comeback. Flyers now 4-1 in series.
Next up @Eastern Kentucky Wednesday. EKU is 5-15, 268 RPI. Very winnable mid-week game.

Flyers blank EKU on the road, 7-0. 13-8 now, up to 117 in the RPI.
Up next is a 4-game series (2x DH Sat/Sun) @ Butler. The Bulldogs are not very good. They come into the weekend with an 8-10 record and are 200th in the RPI. They've only won one series, a sweep against lowly Alabama A&M.

Flyers ensure at least a series split by winning both games this afternoon at Butler.
Game 1 was touch and go. Flyers built a huge lead only to allow a furious comeback. Butler had a chance in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded but couldn't get it done.
Game 2 another lead was built but not relinquished. UD's record improves to 15-8.

And the split is all we get. Rough Sunday for the Fly Boys.
Fought for a big time comeback in the first game, but couldn't get it done. Second game we allowed a comeback late and Butler won it in the bottom of the 9th.
This felt like a turning point in the season. A sweep yesterday would have made this team 17-8, likely well inside the top 100 of the RPI, and created some serious separation from the rest of the A10. Instead we fall to 15-10, 115 in RPI.
Oh well. Time to buckle down for A10 play. Next up is another road test on Tuesday at Ohio U. The Bobcats are not very good: 8-13 with a brutal RPI of 265.

Ohio game was cancelled. I don't see anything about a rescheduling attempt.
Finally a home game up next. Flyers host Fordham for a weekend series. First home game since the mid-week bout with BGSU two weeks ago.
As you may have guessed, the Rams are not very good. 8-15, RPI 196. They are particularly putrid on the road (2-10).

Flyers bounce back nicely after opening the series with a loss Friday. It took extra innings on Sunday but the Flyers were able to secure the series win.
Fly Boys are now 17-11 overall and 2-1 in the A10, 5-1-1 in series play. RPI sits at 113 but has not been updated since the Fordham series.

Mid-week game with Northern Kentucky was cancelled.
Next up for the boys is another A10 series, this time on the road @ Saint Bonaventure.
The Bonnies are...not very good. 8-15 overall, 0-3 in conference play. 226 in the RPI. They've only won one series the entire season, that one coming via a 3-1 result in a four game series @ Mt. St. Mary's.

Flyers win another series, this time 2-1 @ SBU. Very close to a sweep, as UD led most of the first DH game Sunday, only giving up the lead and the win in the bottom of the 9th. Fly Boys are now 19-12 overall, 4-2 in A10 play. 6-1-1 in series play. 116 in the RPI.
Next up is a mid-week tilt at home vs. Akron tomorrow. As you may have guessed the Zips are...not very good. In fact, they are awful. 6-24 overall, 1-11 in MAC play, and 263 in the RPI. They Flyers will make the return trip to Akron one week later (4/16).

Flyers take care of Akron no problem to get to their 20th win. Up next is a home series against George Mason. The Patriots (when is clown world coming after that name!?) are .500 overall and in conference.
This is probably the best team we have faced in a series outside of Wake Forest. That isn't saying much since they're still only 220 in the RPI, but just being .500 puts them in a category above what we've been facing lately.
This is a Fri./Sat./Sun. series and the weather looks nice for it.

Fly Boys win another series. Finally able to watch a game Friday and what a game it was. Flyers found themselves down in extra innings but were able to erase the deficit and pull ahead in the bottom of the 10th.
The series win was sealed Saturday in an absolute barn-burner that featured almost 40 combined runs!
Unfortunately we were not able to complete the sweep, falling by 2 runs in Sunday afternoon's contest.
Flyers are now 22-13 overall, 6-3 in conference, and 120 in the RPI. Up next are TWO mid-week games: the first @ hapless Akron on Tuesday and the second a home game Wednesday vs. Ohio. Go Flyers!

Flyers win both mid-week games. Absolutely crushed Akron Tuesday and took care of Ohio at home yesterday.
Lots of momentum going into the biggest conference series to date and second biggest series of the season @ VCU.
The Rams have the exact same record and A10 record, but are 31 better in the RPI (95). This is far and away the best team we've faced in a series not named Wake Forest. Fly Boys will have their hands full on the road this weekend.

Flyers end up splitting the series with VCU. Game three had to be cancelled, not sure if there's a make-up in the works since it is a conference game. We shall see.
Dayton is now 25-14 overall, 7-4 in conference play, and 108 in the RPI. They still have only one series loss on the season (Wake Forest).
Up next is the highly anticipated matchup with EKU at Day Air Ballpark Tuesday*. Then a trip to Bowling Green the following day. The Flyers have already played and beaten both of these squads this season in dominant fashion.
*D1 Baseball for some reason shows both of these games being played on Tuesday.

Update: due to weather tonight's game has been moved to Woerner field and moved up to 3PM.
To make up for it, the Flyers will play their series finale against Davidson this weekend at Day Air. (Sunday, 4/28, 12 PM).

Brutal home loss to a putrid EKU, who is 257 in the RPI after beating UD.
Flyers took an early 3-0 lead, but a barn burner ensued and our boys were unable to keep up, eventually falling in the comeback attempt 10-8.
I would say "on to BGSU" but that game has reportedly been cancelled. Next up will be the aforementioned home series against Davidson.
