Let's Play Two!

BEVERLY HILLS (MI) -- In the words of the immortal Ernie “Mr. Cub” Banks:

“Let’s play two!”

Today affords yours truly with the rare sports treat of a Flyer/Red Sox doubledip, with one game having no meaning whatsoever and the other with a metric sh*t ton at stake…I’ll leave it up to you to decide which is which.

Meanwhile, here is what’s shakin’ in Flyerland:

-- Former can’t miss New England hoops phenom Chris Herren spoke to the Flyer hoops squad this week, according to his Twitter timeline:

Herren’s appearance prompted social media neophyte Archie Miller to actually tweet something!

If you are unfamiliar with Chris Herren, here is a synopsis of the 30 for 30 documentary entitled “Unguarded” about his struggles to maintain sobriety:

If you have a chance to catch “Unguarded” do so…it is definitely worth watching.

-- Flyer recruiting targets Jevon Bess to MSU and Ryan Luther to Pitt. Archie has two of four available 2014 scholarships filled with Darrell Davis and Steve McElwene. If you were hoping that Kyle Davis’ Chicago Morgan Park HS teammate Josh Cunningham was going to join KD2 at UD, you can fuhgetaboutit. Josh has narrowed his list down to 4 schools and UD ain’t one of them, according to Illinois Prep Bulls Eye (scroll down):

-- Speaking of Davis, Prep Ball Report has him ranked as the #4 senior in the State of Michigan:

-- When is the last time you saw this? An out-of-state recruit is asked “What college would you like to attend?” and he answers “Dayton.” The kid in question is Carlos Fordham, a 2015 SF out of Goodrich (MI) HS:

-- Fresh video of 2015 Versailles (OH) HS SG Kyle Ahrens at the John Lucas Midwest Invitational:

-- To foul or not to foul? NBC Sports asks Archie and other A-10 coaches their up-by-three, end-of-game strategy:

-- The A-10 will be fine without Butler, X, Temple and Charlotte:

-- NBC Sports has UD pegged at #7 in their A-10 pre-season rankings:

-- RIP Bill Sharman, one of the best pure shooters ever:

-- Having lived in Ohio for 10 years, I acquired a taste for the not-your-ordinary Skyline chili. Is it the worst in the country? I don’t think so, but these guys do:

-- Having spent my entire adult life in sales, I sure wish that UD had this available when I was there:

-- Flyer Fan Bob McHale and I both love us some Stone Harbor, NJ, but this guy has both of us beat by a long shot:

Ironically, this transpired the week we were in Stone Harbor this summer.

-- The Red Sox wouldn’t be where they are today -- playing Game 3 in the World Series -- without this guy:

That’s it “From the Swamp.”

That video of Kyle Ahrens is about as bad as it gets. A minute and 5 seconds of wid open layups and dunks.
